Job Purpose
This position will oversee quality for the hot side of the casthouse. This position is pivotal to ensure casthouse products meet quality standards and production timelines, all while holding safety standards and environmental compliance. This position focuses on billet, tee, and sow quality standards and performance. This position will also be dynamic to fulfill as a relief supervisor when a supervisor is absent.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor, maintain, audit, and improve billet casting quality and performance.
- Ensure standard work practices are being followed. Expectations are to improve upon current standard work practices and to implement new standard work practices accordingly.
- Monitor, maintain, audit, and improve furnace handling techniques.Â
- Monitor, maintain, audit, and improve sow line caster.Â
- Engage and coach casting team members on safety and quality.
- Collaborate with hot side supervisor, mold shop, process team members, and cold side technician.Â
- Troubleshoot low recovery products, casting aborts, off analysis material, safety incidents, customer complaints related to hot side, etc.
- Optimize hot side processes to increase uptime, improve recovery, and reduce waste.
- Learn areas such as holding furnace side, sow line, casting pits, mold shop, etc., that are relative to the hot side of the casthouse.
- Comply with safety standards and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Communicate via email each shift with casthouse lead team on quality performance and other data as requested.
- Operate mobile equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes.
- Engage and present during shift toolbox discussions as needed.
- Additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to meet business objectives.Â

Qualifications
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with team members and management.
- Understanding of aluminum manufacturing processes, technology, and equipment is preferred, but not required.
- Understanding of Microsoft Office applications is preferred but not required. Use of Microsoft Office applications will be required and taught as needed.

Physical Demands
- This is an on-site position – remote work is not available.Â
- Must successfully pass a medical examination.Â
- Must have no limitations to walking, standing, climbing and balance, stoop or kneel.
- Able to lift 10 to 25 pounds.Â
- Must be able to speak clearly and utilize a computer keyboard.Â
