The Dietary Technician assists in planning, implementing, and evaluating nutritional care for residents in accordance with physician orders, federal and state regulations, and facility policies. This role supports the dietary department in providing high-quality nutritional care and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Registered Dietitian in completing nutritional assessments and developing care plans for residents.
  • Monitor food intake and nutritional status of residents and report concerns to the Dietitian.
  • Assist in documenting dietary needs and preferences in medical records and care plans.
  • Calculate and record nutrient intake for residents as needed.
  • Help implement physician-ordered therapeutic diets.
  • Conduct regular rounds to monitor meal acceptance and food preferences.
  • Communicate with nursing staff regarding residents’ dietary changes or concerns.
  • Assist in menu planning to meet resident needs and regulatory guidelines.
  • Participate in care plan meetings as requested.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to food service and nutrition.
  • Educate residents and/or family members about dietary guidelines when appropriate.
  • Support the kitchen staff in quality assurance efforts and sanitation compliance.
