Job Summary:

The Facility Maintenance & Safety Manager will handle day-to-day building maintenance and employee safety with a focus on risk management and time management. (S)He will be responsible for streamlining administrative procedures, manage training, process inspections, manage inventory control, and conduct risk assessments. This is an energetic professional who doesn’t mind wearing multiple hats.

Principal Responsibilities:

Facility Safety

  • Manage all warehouse safety efforts and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, i.e. lockout/tag out, confined space, fall protection, powered industrial vehicles/forklifts and company policies and procedures
  • Anticipate, identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices and implement hazard control methods and safety procedures
  • Conduct inspections of the facility, yard, machinery and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulatory compliance
  • Respond and provide assistance in all emergency situations.
  • Ensure all required Safety training is effective and maintain all Safety training records as required by Company policy and law. Manager electronic filing system of all safety documents.
  • Report and/or review findings from incident investigations and facility inspections
  • Monitor, measure and report on team member training and development plans and achievements within agreed formats and time frames
  • Spend time on the warehouse floor/grounds scanning warehouse floor for potential hazards, speaking with employees and working with department managers to resolve potential safety hazards
  • In conjunction with Purchasing, confirm and maintain the safety related inventory items, such as first aid supplies, drug & alcohol testing supplies and PPE needed for the facility
  • Lead and assist in site incident investigation, utilizing structured problem solving to identify root cause of failures

 Facility & Equipment Maintenance

  • Establish and maintain a safety-first culture by promoting and driving safe work practices, timely training, and best practices
  • Responsible for a Preventative Maintenance Program designed to establish reliability of production equipment and building infrastructure.
  • Responsible for the purchase, inventory control and storage of spare parts for the purpose of general and/or emergency equipment repairs.
  • Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs and good working relationships with senior operations leaders
  • Responsible for all general (preventative) and emergency repairs of equipment and building infrastructure.
  • Effectively communicate timing, delivery of parts and equipment to internal departments
  • Ensure operational efficiency of electrical equipment and mechanical systems through timely inspection and repair
  • Ensure that company premises and facilities are kept in clean and hygienic condition.
  • Maintains safe operations of equipment, machinery, and personnel. Trains personnel in proper use of personal protective equipment. Follow up on the department accident investigation reports.
  • Act as point of contact with site occupants, property management/ Landlords to coordinate FM activities and ensure company and customer needs are met

 MRO Procurement (Maintenance, Repair and Operations)

  • Work with HQ’s Purchasing Department to leverage volume purchasing programs and purchase consumable items such as: Office, cleaning, warehouse, packaging and furniture repair supplies.
  • Work with Hub Management to purchase other facility and equipment supplies as needed.
  • Work with HQ IT department to purchase IT hardware as needed (This includes time clocks)

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Health, or related discipline preferred
  • 5 years of safety management experience
  • OSHA Experience
  • Warehouse Safety Experience preferred
  • Travel required: 50%
  • Strong PC skills with a good understanding of Excel, Word and Access software
  • Knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
  • Ability to facilitate training needs

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly and occasionally lift and carry up to 100 pounds with assistance
  • Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
  • Pushing and Pulling: Ability to push and pull wheeled carts or pallet jacks loaded with merchandise
  • Bending, Stooping, and Reaching: Ability to bend, stoop, and reach overhead frequently
  • Physical Stamina: Demonstrate physical stamina and endurance to perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to handle and manipulate small parts or delicate items with precision
  • Flexibility to work extended hours or weekends when necessary to address urgent operational needs
