JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:Ā
JoinĀ Jefferson County Extension, a vibrant part of ColoradoĀ State University Extension,Ā whereĀ we bringĀ research-based education and resources to life, empoweringĀ individualsĀ and communities to thrive. Ā As the CSU Extension Program Coordinator,Ā youāllĀ play a pivotal role in positive youth development viaĀ ENOR environmental discovery campĀ for 4th-8thĀ graders,Ā and youth/family environmental programming throughout the year. Ā TheĀ CoordinatorĀ will supervise the management and delivery of educationalĀ programsĀ including ENOR, a year-round and part-time camp assistant, a seasonal team of 13 educators and about 4-10Ā teen programĀ volunteers. Ā This position offers a balance of collaborative teamwork and independent work, with flexible scheduling options to support work-life balance; evening and weekend hours will be necessary at times. Ā The role also offers the opportunity to spend some time outdoorsĀ andĀ hikingĀ toĀ ensureĀ trail safety and connection to theĀ curriculum, orĀ visiting the camp/staff outĀ inĀ the field. SCHEDULE:Ā
The typical schedule for this position is a 4-day Tuesday-Friday scheduleĀ (10 hour days)Ā or 5-day schedule Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with evening and weekend hours as needed; typical schedule may be discussed with supervisor to meet the needs of the position and the professional. Work can be performed in a hybrid format, remote and in-person, with a requirement of at least three in-office days per week at the Jefferson County Extension Office,Ā locatedĀ on the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. Ā Ā The CSUE Jeffco office is closed on Mondays which offers employees the choice 5-day workweeks with remote work on Monday, or 4-day workweeks. Due to the front-facing nature of this position, the successful candidate shouldĀ anticipateĀ spending a majority of their work week in-person, whether in the office or in the community, especially during busy summer camp monthsĀ and the weeks leading up to itĀ

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Ā
Recruit, assign, train, direct and supervise activities of temporary workers and/or volunteers. Assign special projects and job duties. Visit personnel working off site in parks and open space. Evaluate and mentor staff to ensure safe and quality program delivery.Ā Ā
Use evaluation data from campers and camper families, as well as information from external resources toĀ identifyĀ issues, needs for improvement, and ensure that the curriculum is up to date,Ā retainsĀ alignment with Jefferson County Public Schools curriculum and safe practices areĀ maintained.Ā Ā
Monitor compliance with day care licensing requirements and ensure that inconsistencies are addressed.Ā Ā
Monitor and track program related expenses to ensure they are within theĀ allocatedĀ budget.Ā Ā
Order andĀ maintainĀ equipment and supplies.Ā
Ā Coordinate with other CSU Extension staff to build support for program delivery and build interdisciplinary education opportunities.Ā Ā Ā
Compile data and generate reports for evaluation, promotion and toĀ maintainĀ efficiency.Ā Ā
Develop program policies and procedures, curriculum and supporting materials and communication messages.Ā
Provide customer service to customers, staff,Ā businessĀ and partners ensuring all needs are addressed inĀ a timelyĀ and courteous manner.Ā Ā
Ensure operations are running smoothly daily and issues are resolved or elevated toĀ managementĀ as necessary. Coordinates daily activities with internal and external stakeholders.Ā Ā
Represent CSU Extension and 4-H internally and externally at community meetings,Ā conferencesĀ and organizational meetings.Ā Ā
Recruit and engage partners and community members to build alliances and enhance program opportunities.Ā Ā
Communicate with partners,Ā providersĀ and vendors.Ā WriteĀ reports and promotional material; develop and offer presentations internally and externally.Ā Ā Ā
SeekĀ and develop partnerships to improve the quality of program content, siteĀ visitsĀ and support curriculum enhancements.Ā
Supervises staff and their training in area of responsibility.Ā Ā
Administer and makes recommendations for routine personnel matters affecting subordinates, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, assigning, scheduling, granting leave, appraisals, and taking corrective action.Ā Ā
May beĀ requiredĀ to work some evenings and weekends.Ā

ENOR summer environmental camp is registered as a designated school-ageĀ child careĀ center. Ā The program coordinator must be at least 21 years of age and meet one of the Qualifications Pathways that include at least one of the following pathways 1) a Bachelorās, Masterās or Doctorate degree with a major in a relevant field (see link for majors list); 2) completion of a course of training approved by the Department that include course content listed; 3) or an Associateās degree or 60 credit hours and 3 months (456 hours) of experience in child care of 4 or more children over 4 years old (not related to the individual); 4) or persons with no degree must haveĀ 21 months (3185 hours) of experience in child care of 4 or more children over 4 years old (not related to the individual) and completion of 6 hours from a college or university -or- completion of 40 clock hours of training in course work applicable to school-age children within the first 9 months in the position; or a current early childhood professional credential level II orĀ higher.ReviewĀ the ColoradoĀ School-Age Childcare CenterĀ requirementsĀ here.Ā
