Our operations are in West Columbia, SC and Glen Allen, VA, allowing us to conveniently serve our member-owners, the electric cooperatives, as well as municipal and investor-owned utilities. We proudly offer next-day delivery to our members via our fleet of trucks or common carriers. Job Title: Inside Sales Representative I

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

PURPOSE 

The Inside Sales Representative I is responsible for supporting customer relationships, sales activities, and order processing within the distribution environment. This position responds to customer inquiries, prepares quotations, processes orders, provides product information, and coordinates with internal departments to support accurate and timely customer service.

The Inside Sales Representative I develops knowledge of company products, customers, suppliers, pricing practices, and distribution processes and performs assigned responsibilities in accordance with established procedures and direction.

NATURE AND SCOPE 

The Inside Sales Representative I is an entry-level or developing sales professional who performs routine inside sales and customer service activities with guidance and support as needed. The position requires developing knowledge of company products, customers, pricing, inventory, suppliers, and distribution processes and applying that knowledge to routine customer needs.

The position handles routine customer inquiries, quotations, orders, product requests, and service issues and follows established procedures and guidelines. The Inside Sales Representative I is expected to recognize situations that require additional assistance and seek guidance or escalate matters appropriately.

The position works with Outside Sales, Inventory, Warehouse, Operations, Supplier Relations, and other departments to support customer requirements and effective order fulfillment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES 

  1. Respond to customer inquiries regarding product availability, pricing, and order status
  2. Enter customer orders and quotes into the ERP system accurately and promptly
  3. Provide basic technical information or connect customers with subject matter experts
  4. Collaborate with the warehouse and logistics teams to ensure timely order fulfillment 
  5. Support customer follow-up and issue resolutions in a professional and timely manner
  6. Maintain customer account records and ensure accurate documentation of communications
  7. Assist with tracking shipments, managing returns, and processing credits
  8. Stay informed on product lines and vendor offerings to support customer requests
  9. Work closely with other inside sales staff, account managers, and purchasing to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  10. Maintain a high standard of customer service and support in all interactions
  11. Perform their responsibilities in a manner that reflects CEEUS’s core values
  12. Other duties as assigned 

WORKING LOCATION AND CONDITIONS 

  • Work is primarily in a climate-controlled office setting in Glen Allen, VA
  • Noise level is generally moderate and typical of a professional office environment. 
  • Standard working hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday with 1 hour for lunch
  • Standard two 15-minute break periods per day
  • Occasionally travel to supplier locations, company facilities, or meetings; travel is expected to be less than 10% of working time.

  • Frequently and effectively communicates, both verbally and in writing, with vendors, customers, coworkers, and management by telephone, video conference, email, and in-person meetings. 
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information, ask questions, provide instructions, and respond to inquiries in a timely manner. 
  • Demonstrates the ability to organize work, prioritize and coordinates multiple activities and assignments, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Exercises sound judgement, professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality in the performance of assigned duties.

  • Requires close visual acuity to read printed material and electronic documents, review data, and perform computer-based work.

  • Ability to support storm and emergency readiness, including availability outside standard hours when required to sustain safe, reliable operations.

  • Must be able to handle multiple concurrent priorities, manage time effectively, and direct team members under high-pressure conditions (e.g., storm response, peak shipping seasons).
  • Requires the cognitive ability to evaluate operational challenges, develop strategies, and implement solutions in real time, balancing safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
