Job Description: Final Assembly Operator

Stabilus is a global leader in the production of gas springs and dampers on five continents. Our products can be used in a wide variety of industries, such as the automotive and office chair manufacturing industries, furniture technology, solar industry, medical technology, and many other industrial applications. This position will be located in our U.S. Headquarters in Gastonia, NC.

Job Summary:

The Stabilus Final Assembly Operator Performs several functions in Final Assembly resulting in the packaging and palletizing of a finished product in accordance with specifications.

Currently, we have an opening on our 2nd Shift which runs Monday - Friday from 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. There is a $2.hour shift premium for working on the 2nd Shift.

Main Tasks 

  • Operates positions as requested by supervision or lead operator.
  • Operates manual pressure check equipment.
  • Operates grommet machine.
  • Assembles end brackets.
  • Installs end brackets.
  • Packs units as specified.


Secondary Tasks

  • Inspects all springs for total overall quality appearance.
  • Touches up all paint nicks.
  • Operates powered industrial truck (pallet jack).
  • May operate final quality test equipment, records findings.
  • Maintains machines and work area in proper order.
  • Cleans area daily prior to end of shift.
  • Observes plant safety rules.
  • Performs other duties as requested by supervision.

 

Education, Training, Certifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.


Experience

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably quality, warehouse or production assembly.
  • Work experience of three months will provide needed time to become proficient in this job role.


 

Job Knowledge and Skills

Requires ability to operate all equipment within the Final Assembly department. Must be familiar with the entire product line and with all related end fitting hardware and attachment procedures. Must be familiar with company quality standards and be skilled in the use of related quality test equipment. Must be skilled in the use of basic hand tools.


Language Skills 

  • Must be able to communicate effectively.

Reasoning Ability

  • Must have good reasoning ability. 

Mathematical Skills

  • Basic mathematical skills a must.

Contact with Others

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of associates including management.

Resourcefulness and Initiative

  • Performs operations with recognized procedural methods. Most tasks are routine in nature.


Accountability / Impact of Errors

  • Performs operations where inferior quality is detectable with minimal loss of material.
  • Packing operation has opportunity to detect but also has opportunity to miss certain quality problems which could result in some loss of goodwill.
  • No access to confidential data.


Working Conditions

  • Good working conditions. No exposure to elements to the point of being disagreeable. Normal assembly work environment.
  • Light physical effort required, continuously lifts and moves material of negligible weight. Frequent lifting, reaching, and bending required. Moderate to heavy lifting in packing process.
