Our team provides engineering and design, mechanical construction, prefabrication and manufacturing, building management, and service and maintenance solutions across complex commercial and institutional environments.

We are looking for an experienced QA/QC Manager to support our work in the Gainesville, Florida area and take ownership of quality assurance and quality control throughout the construction process.

This is a hands-on field leadership position for someone who understands mechanical construction, knows what quality work looks like, and can identify issues before they become costly problems.

The Opportunity

As QA/QC Manager, you will develop, implement, and maintain project quality standards while working closely with project managers, superintendents, field leadership, subcontractors, vendors, and customers.

You will be responsible for inspecting work, maintaining quality documentation, tracking deficiencies through resolution, and helping ensure mechanical installations meet project specifications, approved drawings, applicable codes, and KAR & Larrabee's standards.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the project QA/QC program from construction through testing, commissioning, and turnover
  • Review project drawings, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, and quality requirements
  • Perform regular field inspections of mechanical installations and workmanship
  • Verify work is being installed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, manufacturer requirements, and applicable codes
  • Monitor HVAC, piping, plumbing, equipment, and related mechanical installations for quality and compliance
  • Develop and maintain inspection and testing plans, checklists, quality reports, and other project documentation
  • Identify deficiencies and nonconforming work and coordinate corrective actions with field and project leadership
  • Track punch-list and quality items through completion and closeout
  • Participate in pre-installation meetings and help establish quality expectations before work begins
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, startup, commissioning, and documentation as required
  • Review material and equipment deliveries for compliance with approved project requirements
  • Work closely with project managers, superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and customers
  • Help resolve field quality issues while keeping projects moving forward
  • Maintain organized QA/QC records for project turnover and closeout
  • Promote a culture of accountability, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement across project teams

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial or industrial construction, preferably mechanical construction
  • Previous QA/QC, superintendent, mechanical field leadership, or similar construction experience
  • Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC, piping, plumbing, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, submittals, and shop drawings
  • Understanding of construction quality-control processes, inspections, testing, and documentation
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to recognize installation and workmanship issues in the field
  • Ability to communicate effectively with field crews, project management, subcontractors, engineers, and customers
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Ability to independently manage priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
  • Working knowledge of applicable mechanical, plumbing, and construction codes
  • Comfortable using construction management software, electronic drawings, and standard Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing QA/QC on large commercial, healthcare, institutional, education, or similarly complex construction projects
  • Mechanical contractor or MEP construction experience
  • Experience with testing, commissioning, startup, and project turnover
  • Familiarity with BIM/VDC coordination and prefabricated mechanical systems
  • Relevant quality, mechanical, welding, or construction certifications are a plus
