At The Pinnacle Companies, our success isn't just built on the homes we build, the spaces we design, or the services we provide, it's built on our people. We are a team driven by passion, collaboration, and a shared commitment to creating exceptional experiences. As a leader in luxury mountain living, we specialize in architecture, construction, and interior design, but what sets us apart is our culture.
At Pinnacle, we believe in pushing boundaries, embracing challenges, and growing together. We balance professionalism with authenticity and confidence with humility. Success here isn't just about business growth, it's about the relationships we build, the experiences we create, and the meaningful impact we make every day.
Not everyone is meant to work here, and that's okay. Pinnacle is a place for people who take pride in their work, who bring their whole selves to the table, and who believe excellence and optimism aren't simple acts, but daily habits. We're looking for people who lean into challenges, own their outcomes, believe in the possible, and show up for their community.
If you're looking for a job, you'll find thousands. If you're looking for a place to grow, contribute, and push your own limits, you might belong here.
The question is simple: Are you someone who thrives where expectations are high, accountability is real, courage is celebrated, and relationships run deep? If so, we'd love to meet you.
The Role: As our Accounting Director, you'll own the accounting function end to end, both the people who run it and the processes that make it work. Reporting directly to the EVP of Finance & Strategy, you'll lead the team that closes the books across our family of companies and entities, and you'll be accountable for financials that are both timely and accurate. We recently moved onto Intuit Enterprise Suite, and are formalizing process to tightening close, wiring our systems together, and automating the work we still do by hand. You'll be the partner to our business leaders and the person a project manager or brand leader comes to when they need to understand their numbers, and the person who holds the keys to running our business by the books. We're looking for someone who leads with confidence in both directions. You will be both steady, supporting and generous with our team and unflinching about the integrity of the financials. If you get energy from building the machine and not just operating it, you may be a good fit…
This is an in-person role based in our Frisco office.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Accounting Team: Manage, coach, and develop our accounting team. Set clear expectations, distribute work deliberately, and build the kind of team where people know what good looks like and want to get there. Give feedback in real time, not once a year. Own hiring, onboarding, and cross-training so the close never depends on a single person.
- Own the Close and the Financials: Drive the monthly, quarterly, and annual close across multiple entities. Own the calendar and hold it. Review journal entries, reconciliations, intracompany activity, sales tax, payroll, and balance sheet accounts, and deliver financial statements our leaders can actually act on. Partner with the EVP of Finance & Strategy on consolidations, budgets, and the annual audit and tax cycle.
- Elevate the Platform and the Process: Take ownership of Intuit Enterprise Suite including structure and integrity of the chart of accounts, class and dimension structure, approval workflows, reporting, and permissions. Lead the remaining migration and cleanup work, and evaluate what belongs in IES versus a connected tool. Document how we do things and then improve it. Build practical process that protect the business without slowing it down, keep our accounting process current, and maintain the highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality in everything you touch.
- Automate and Integrate: Find the manual work in our accounting operations and get rid of it. AI is our friend here. Build and maintain the integrations between IES, our banking and AP platforms, payroll, industry specific software, and project management systems. Own our imports and templates, and use AI to draft, reconcile, summarize, and audit. You should be genuinely excited about what these tools can do for an accounting team, not cautious about them.
- Partner with Business Leaders: Serve as the accounting liaison to every business unit. Translate financial results into plain language for people who don't live in a general ledger, walk leaders through their P&Ls and job costs, and help them make better decisions with the numbers in front of them. Bring issues forward early, with a recommendation attached.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience
- Advanced Excel skills required and high engagement with AI tools and automations.
- Experience working with QB Enterprise (bonus for Intuit Enterprise Suite ) or a similar accounting system.
- Ability to foster phenomenal culture and lead a team of amazing accounting minded people.
- Well-developed financial analysis and problem-solving capabilities.
- High sense of urgency and ability to prioritize.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Clear and elevated communication (written and verbal).
