RMB Products is seeking a 2nd Shift Supervisor who is responsible for directly supervising and coordinating the activities of second-shift employees to ensure production, quality, safety, and delivery objectives are met. This position provides day-to-day leadership, training, and technical support to the production team while helping maintain an efficient, safe, and productive work environment.
The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing priorities. Overtime may be required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage and direct daily activities of second-shift employees through work assignments to meet production schedules.
- Provide guidance, instruction, coaching, and training to ensure quality products are produced safely and efficiently.
- Oversee daily production activities, including fabrication, surface preparation, lining, molding, trimming, and other value stream processes.
- Provide technical guidance and support to Engineering and Sales regarding value stream products.
- Ensure value stream objectives are met for on-time delivery and quality.
- Ensure safety, 5S, and maintenance requirements are followed.
- Ensure production and value stream documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Supervise, coach, review, and support assigned employees and provide recommendations regarding employee performance and employment status.
- Maintain required timekeeping, payroll, and materials records.
- Coordinate and actively assist with the daily activities of second-shift personnel.
- Provide weekly updates to applicable Value Stream Managers.
- Support continuous improvement and respond effectively to changing production priorities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Previous experience or strong knowledge within the applicable area of responsibility.
- Ability to effectively supervise, coordinate, and support employees in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to plan and execute work independently.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage fluctuating priorities and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain an organized and productive work environment.
- Ability to effectively process change through feedback and performance reviews.
- Demonstrated personal responsibility, accountability, and ability to meet workmanship standards with minimal supervision.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and maintaining a clean work area.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Advanced Excel.
- Experience with Visual Manufacturing software is a plus.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding projects, customers, the company, and its employees.
- Ability to work on-site in a plant/warehouse environment.
- Additional training and/or education may be required based on business needs.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to work while standing and around manufacturing machinery.
- Ability to perform computer-based work while seated as needed.
- Ability to operate a forklift and overhead crane.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and assist with team lifts exceeding 50 pounds.
- Ability to meet the work schedule, hours, and productivity expectations of the position.
- Must have the visual abilities necessary for the role, including close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must follow all established safety standards, policies, and applicable regulations.
- May be exposed to typical manufacturing hazards, including burns, cuts, tripping hazards, and other potentially hazardous conditions.
- Must properly use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other safety equipment.
