Position Summary
The Housekeeping Room Inspector is responsible for inspecting guest rooms, suites, and designated public areas to ensure they meet the property’s standards for cleanliness, presentation, maintenance, and guest readiness. This position works closely with Housekeeping Supervisors, Room Attendants, and the Front Office team to maintain a consistently high level of guest satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect guest rooms, bathrooms, hallways, and assigned areas to ensure they meet established cleanliness and quality standards.
- Verify that rooms are properly cleaned, organized, stocked, and prepared according to hotel standards.
- Check linens, towels, amenities, furniture, fixtures, and guest supplies for cleanliness, condition, and proper placement.
- Identify maintenance issues, damages, missing items, or safety concerns and report them promptly to the appropriate department.
- Ensure room attendants follow proper cleaning procedures and established housekeeping standards.
- Provide constructive feedback and coaching to room attendants when standards are not met.
- Reinspect rooms after corrections have been made to ensure all deficiencies are resolved.
- Communicate room status accurately with the Front Office and Housekeeping departments.
- Assist with prioritizing rooms based on arrivals, departures, VIP guests, special requests, and operational needs.
- Monitor housekeeping productivity and quality while maintaining a professional and supportive work environment.
- Ensure guest requests and special room requirements are completed accurately.
- Maintain knowledge of hotel policies, procedures, cleanliness standards, and safety regulations.
- Assist with training new housekeeping employees on room standards and inspection procedures.
- Respond professionally to guest concerns related to room cleanliness and coordinate appropriate solutions.
- Complete inspection reports, checklists, and other required documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Manager or Executive Housekeeper.
Qualifications
- Previous housekeeping, hotel, or hospitality experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and quality.
- Ability to recognize housekeeping and maintenance deficiencies quickly and accurately.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team
