Job DetailsJob Location: FORT PIERCE, FL 34947Position Type: Full TimeTreasure Coast Food Bank is seeking an experienced, highly skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to provide hands-on maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance for our warehouse, distribution center, administrative offices, kitchens, and other facility areas. This position is ideal for an experienced maintenance professional who is comfortable working independently, identifying problems before they become larger issues, and performing a wide range of repairs involving plumbing, electrical systems, mechanical equipment, building systems, fixtures, and general facility maintenance. The Facilities Maintenance Technician plays an important role in keeping our facility safe, clean, functional, and operational so that Treasure Coast Food Bank can continue serving our community without interruption. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Facility Maintenance & Repair Perform routine and emergency repairs throughout warehouse, office, kitchen, training, and common areas. Diagnose building maintenance problems and determine appropriate corrective action. Complete general repairs including doors, locks, hinges, hardware, shelving, walls, ceilings, flooring, fixtures, and other building components. Perform minor carpentry, drywall repair, patching, painting, caulking, and general building repairs. Assemble, install, relocate, and repair office furniture, shelving, storage systems, fixtures, and equipment. Conduct regular facility inspections to identify maintenance, safety, or operational concerns. Respond promptly to work orders and facility repair requests. Plumbing Troubleshoot and repair common plumbing problems, including leaking faucets, toilets, valves, drains, sinks, and supply lines. Diagnose drainage and odor issues and identify potential problems involving traps, trap primers, floor drains, and plumbing fixtures. Perform minor plumbing installations and repairs within the scope permitted by applicable codes and licensing requirements. Identify plumbing issues requiring a licensed contractor and assist with coordinating and overseeing outside service providers. Electrical & Equipment Troubleshooting Troubleshoot basic electrical problems involving switches, outlets, lighting, fixtures, breakers, sensors, and related equipment. Replace light fixtures, bulbs, switches, outlets, and other components when permitted. Diagnose equipment problems and determine whether repairs can be completed internally or require specialized service. Assist with troubleshooting facility and warehouse equipment, including dock equipment, doors, fans, motors, charging equipment, and other operational systems. Maintain awareness of electrical safety requirements and ensure work requiring a licensed electrician is referred appropriately. Preventative Maintenance Perform scheduled preventative maintenance throughout the facility. Conduct routine inspections of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, safety, and building systems. Maintain preventative maintenance schedules and accurate service records. Identify developing issues before they result in equipment failure, property damage, or disruption of operations. Inspect doors, dock areas, warehouse racking, exterior areas, lighting, restrooms, kitchens, offices, and other facility spaces. Monitor facility conditions and immediately report significant safety, structural, mechanical, or operational concerns. Warehouse & Operational Support Provide maintenance support for a large food distribution and warehouse operation. Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of warehouse equipment and infrastructure. Perform minor repairs to pallet racking, shelving, carts, workstations, storage areas, and other warehouse equipment where appropriate. Assist with loading dock equipment, dock doors, overhead doors, bumpers, seals, and related systems. Support installation or relocation of equipment and facility infrastructure. Work safely around forklifts, pallet jacks, commercial vehicles, warehouse traffic, and food storage areas. Building Systems & Vendor Coordination Monitor facility systems and immediately communicate unusual conditions or equipment failures. Assist with HVAC troubleshooting and routine maintenance such as filters and basic system inspections; coordinate licensed HVAC service when necessary. Work with outside contractors and vendors performing specialized repairs and preventative maintenance. Assist with obtaining repair estimates and confirming that contracted work has been completed properly. Maintain maintenance records, equipment information, warranties, service agreements, manuals, and vendor documentation. Help maintain an inventory of commonly needed maintenance supplies, replacement parts, tools, and equipment. Safety & Emergency Response Maintain all work areas in a safe and orderly condition. Follow OSHA requirements and Treasure Coast Food Bank safety policies. Identify and correct potential hazards when possible and immediately report serious safety concerns. Assist with inspections of emergency lighting, exit signs, fire extinguishers, spill response supplies, and other safety equipment. Support facility preparation and recovery during hurricanes, severe weather, emergency food distributions, and disaster-response operations. May be required to respond to urgent facility issues outside normal business hours. QualificationsREQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS Minimum 5 years of hands-on commercial, industrial, warehouse, or institutional facility maintenance experience preferred. Strong working knowledge of plumbing systems and repairs. Strong working knowledge of basic electrical systems and electrical troubleshooting. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to diagnose equipment problems. Experience performing general building repairs, including carpentry, drywall, painting, hardware, fixtures, doors, and related maintenance. Experience working in a warehouse, distribution center, manufacturing facility, commercial property, institutional facility, or similar environment strongly preferred. Ability to read basic equipment manuals, diagrams, specifications, and maintenance instructions. Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and maintenance equipment. Ability to determine when a repair can safely be performed internally and when a licensed or specialized contractor is required. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Ability to communicate clearly with employees, management, contractors, and vendors. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize multiple repair and maintenance needs in a fast-paced operational environment. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS HVAC maintenance or troubleshooting experience. Commercial kitchen equipment maintenance experience a plus. Refrigeration or cold-storage environment experience a plus. Warehouse or distribution center maintenance experience preferred. Experience with dock doors, overhead doors, loading dock equipment, motors, pumps, compressors, or similar equipment. Forklift, aerial lift, or scissor-lift certification. OSHA or other workplace safety training. Trade school, technical certification, apprenticeship, or equivalent training in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, industrial maintenance, or building maintenance. Experience maintaining preventative maintenance programs or computerized maintenance/work-order systems. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This is a hands-on position requiring regular physical activity. The employee must be able to: Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work in varying positions. Safely use ladders and approved elevated work equipment. Regularly lift and carry tools, equipment, supplies, and materials. Lift up to 50 pounds independently and heavier items with appropriate assistance or equipment. Work in warehouse, office, kitchen, refrigerated, outdoor, and other facility environments. Work in varying temperatures and weather conditions when necessary. Safely perform physical maintenance and repair activities throughout a large commercial facility. SUCCESS IN THIS POSITION The successful Facilities Maintenance Technician will be a hands-on problem solver who takes ownership of the condition of the facility. This individual does not simply wait for a work order but regularly walks the property, identifies issues, communicates concerns, and addresses problems before they interfere with operations. The ideal candidate understands that in a food bank and disaster-response environment, operational needs can change quickly. The individual must be dependable, flexible, safety-conscious, resourceful, and willing to assist wherever needed to keep the organization operating effectively.
