JOB SUMMARY

 

The Press Room Helper assists the Press Operator in the efficient operation and maintenance of printing presses, ensuring the timely production of high-quality printed materials. This role involves a variety of tasks, from preparing materials and assisting with press setup to maintaining a clean and organized work environment. The Press Room Helper plays a crucial role in supporting the smooth operation of the press room and contributing to the overall productivity of the printing process.

Responsibilities and Activities

  • Loads and unloads paper rolls or stacks onto the press, ensuring proper alignment and tension.
  • Assists the Press Operator in preparing the press for production, including cleaning, changing plates, and adjusting settings.
  • Monitors and adjusts ink and water levels during the printing process to maintain consistent print quality.
  • Inspects printed materials for defects or inconsistencies, notifying the Press Operator of any issues.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area, including cleaning the press and surrounding areas.
  • Assists in troubleshooting minor press issues and performing basic maintenance tasks.
  • Follows all safety procedures and protocols within the press room, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Communicates effectively with the Press Operator and other team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of print jobs.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by the Press Operator or Supervisor to support the overall production goals.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as required to ensure the team's success.

 

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education

  • High school diploma or GED.

Work Experience

  • Manufacturing Experience: Six months experience as a machine operator or 2 years’ experience running production equipment preferred.
  • Prior experience with computers and software-driven mechanical systems preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of postal guidelines for sorted mail preferred but not required.
  • Ability to read and interpret job instructions.
  • Ability to work with both computers and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to monitor production equipment for speed and quality.
  • Ability to learn software-driven mechanical systems.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job, including moving up to 10 pounds regularly and lifting to 45 pounds intermittently.
  • Comfortable working in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of mechanical operations.
  • Knowledge of production processes.
