Company Overview

Established in 1947, Wagner, Ferber, Fine & Ackerman/WFFA Advisors (ā€œWFFAā€) is a premier accounting and advisory firm serving the New York metropolitan area from offices in Manhattan and Long Island. As a member of the Windsor Path network, the firm provides assurance, tax planning and preparation, and business consulting services tailored to closely held companies, their owners, and high-net-worth individuals. WFFA prides itself on a boutique service model that combines deep technical expertise with the personalized attention of a trusted partner. The team is dedicated to fostering long-term success through innovative problem solving and a commitment to the continuous professional development of every employee.

Brief Summary

WFFA is adding a Senior Audit Associate to its audit practice on Long Island. This is a hands-on role working directly with the partners on attest engagements from planning through wrap-up, with real ownership of the work rather than one narrow slice of it.

The mix is roughly 75% audit and 25% accounting and tax, so the work stays varied and you build a broader skill set than a pure assurance seat offers. If your background is heavier on audit, that is fine. Training is available on the accounting and tax side.

About 30% of the time is spent at client sites, most of them on Long Island, with the balance in the Floral Park office. The team also runs a workload that stays reasonable throughout the year, including the first quarter, which is not something every firm can say.

Responsibilities

Ā· Perform fieldwork on audits, reviews, and compilations, from planning and risk assessment through testing and wrap-up

Ā· Prepare and maintain engagement binders and supporting workpapers

Ā· Draft financial statements and related footnote disclosures

Ā· Test account balances and transaction cycles, document findings, and clear open items with client personnel

Ā· Work on site at client locations across Long Island

Ā· Take on accounting work outside of assurance, including general ledger review, adjusting entries, and client bookkeeping support

Ā· Assist with tax work during slower attest periods

Ā· Report findings and open issues to the audit partners, taking on more engagement ownership over time

Ā· Help develop less experienced staff as the audit team grows

Requirements

Ā· 3 to 5+ years of audit and accounting experience in public accounting

Ā· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field preferred

Ā· CPA or actively working toward the CPA preferred

Ā· Strong working knowledge of GAAP and audit methodology, with the ability to own sections of an engagement with limited oversight

Ā· Interest in working across audit, accounting, and tax; candidates with a purely audit background will also be considered

Ā· Experience with QuickBooks and general ledger systems

Ā· Familiarity with CCH Engagement and CCH tax applications is a plus

Ā· Ability to commute to the Floral Park office and travel to client sites on Long Island

Compensation: Competitive base salary, discretionary annual bonus tied to firm and individual performance, and benefits plan. Specific compensation details will be discussed directly with qualified candidates.
