Fayetteville Public Works Commission is seeking customer-focused IT professional to join our Information Technology Infrastructure team. In this role, you'll provide technical support for computer systems, software, mobile devices, printers, and business applications that support critical utility operations. You'll work directly with employees across the organization to troubleshoot issues, implement solutions, and help ensure reliable technology services. The level of placement will based on qualifications, experience, technical expertise, and certifications.
What You'll Do
- Provide desktop, laptop, printer, mobile device, and software support.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues.
- Create and manage user accounts and access permissions.
- Install, configure, and deploy computer equipment and software.
- Support Microsoft Windows environments, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 technologies.
- Respond to tickets, emails, phone calls, Teams messages, and in-person support requests.
- Configure and troubleshoot network and standalone printers.
- Support iPhones, iPads, and other mobile devices.
- Maintain accurate asset inventories and technical documentation.
- Participate in technology projects, upgrades, and deployments.
- Provide after-hours support on a rotating basis as required.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and 1+ year of relevant IT support experience; OR
Associate degree in a related field and 5+ years of relevant IT support experience; OR
High school diploma/GED and 9+ years of relevant IT support experience.
IT Support SpecialistÂ
Ideal candidates will have experience with:
- Desktop and laptop support
- Windows operating systems
- Active Directory user administration
- Printer installation and troubleshooting
- Mobile device support
- Customer service and help desk support
IT Support Specialist II
In addition to the qualifications above, candidates may have experience with:
- SCCM or endpoint management tools
- Network protocols (DNS, DHCP, HTTP)
- PowerShell or other scripting languages
- Active Directory permissions and group administration
- Technical documentation creation
- IT projects, deployments, and system rollouts
Preferred Certifications
- CompTIA Stackable Specialist Certification
- Microsoft Endpoint Administrator Associate
- Equivalent advanced technical certification
IT Support Specialist III
Advanced candidates may have experience with:
- Tier III technical support
- Active Directory and Azure/Entra ID administration
- Exchange Online, MFA, and Single Sign-On (SSO)
- Windows Server administration
- DNS and DHCP troubleshooting
- Mobile Device Management (MDM)
- Operating system imaging and software deployment
- PowerShell scripting and automation
- Advanced enterprise troubleshooting
Qualified candidates will be considered for IT Support Specialist I, II, or III based on their experience, technical skills, certifications, and demonstrated expertise.
Preferred Certifications
- Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator Associate
- Additional Microsoft or CompTIA certifications
- Windows Server administration experience
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, and participate in an on-call support rotation.
