Overview

International Logic Systems, Inc. (ILS) is seeking an experienced  Senior Oracle Analytics Server (OAS) Administrator / BI & Data Engineer with strong experience in OAS administration, enterprise reporting, ODI, Oracle SQL/PLSQL, data engineering, automation, and reporting modernization. This position requires in-office presence two days per week at our headquarters (Fairfax, VA 22033), so candidates must be local to the DC Metro area.

 

Responsibilities

 Must-Have Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle Analytics Server (OAS) 8.2 / 7.6 on Linux.
  • Experience with OAS RPD, dashboards, analyses, reports, and BI Publisher (BIP).
  • Experience automating backup/recovery of RPD, catalog, dashboards, reports, and BIP artifacts.
  • Strong Oracle SQL/PLSQL, including packages, procedures, and SQL performance optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) 12.2.1.4, including interfaces/mappings, packages, scenarios, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of data engineering, ETL/ELT, data pipelines, data integration, and data warehouse concepts.
  • Experience with Linux shell scripting and automation.
  • Experience in enterprise reporting modernization and migration of legacy reporting solutions.
  • Experience with or understanding MCP Server / Model Context Protocol in on-premises environments.
  • Strong production support, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities 

  • Database Administration: Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrades of Oracle databases (latest versions) on various operating systems.
  • Performance Tuning: Utilize tools like AWR, ADDM, and SQL tuning to monitor and enhance database performance and optimize SQL queries.
  • Backup and Recovery: Implement and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies using RMAN and Oracle Data Pump to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Configure and manage Oracle Data Guard, RAC, and other high availability solutions to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Security Management: Ensure database security in compliance with industry standards; manage user access, roles, and privileges.
  • Database Monitoring: Use Oracle Enterprise Manager and other monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve database issues.
  • Database Development Support: Assist developers with database design, efficient SQL coding, and data loading processes.
  • Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts for routine database maintenance tasks using Shell scripting or PL/SQL.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation for database configurations, processes, and changes.
  • Incident Management: Quickly troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, ensuring minimal impact on production.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience as an Oracle DBA, with expertise in managing Oracle 12c, 19c, and newer versions. Experience with SQL Server or DB2 is a plus.
  • Certification: Current Oracle Database Administration certification (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional [OCP] on Oracle Database 19c or 21c).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Qualifications

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Oracle tools such as Oracle SQL*Loader, SQL Developer, Oracle Data Pump, RMAN, Oracle Grid Infrastructure (ASM), and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM 13c or higher).
  • Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and ASM for high availability.
  • Strong understanding of database security, backup, and recovery best practices.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Shell and PL/SQL.
  • Performance Tuning: Advanced knowledge of performance tuning methodologies using tools like STATSPACK, AWR, ADDM, and TKPROF.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to perform root cause analysis for performance or system issues.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and documenting technical processes.

Preferred Skills

  • WebLogic Server administration.
  • OAS security, LDAP/SSO, and performance tuning.
  • REST APIs / Python automation.
  • Git / CI-CD / DevOps.
  • Data modeling, data quality, lineage, and governance.
  • AI/LLM integration with enterprise data and analytics.
