Must also perform maintenance manager’s role of directing daily maintenance activities in his absence. Schedule, oversee, and conduct inspections, repair, installation, and wiring of all electrical apparatus, devices and circuits, of any voltage in the plant or assigned area. Must be able to read wiring diagrams, specifications and instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repair , installation and inspection work to be done. Analyzes all types of drawings and wiring diagrams to locate and install circuits and equipment, to determine material or replacements needs, and to select a logical approach to trouble shooting and repair problems. Determines necessary tools and materials – plans, performs work requiring a thorough working knowledge of electrical principles, wiring specifications, codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of equipment. Locates sources of failure of any type electrical equipment by tracing and testing circuits and inspecting for faulty operation. Dismantles, inspects, repairs and adjusts or replaces faulty parts and wiring of motors, generators, power distribution and control panels, circuit breakers, rectifiers, electronic devices, transformers, cranes ect. Reassembles, test and adjusts equipment for safe and proper operation. Replaces coils, resisters, rheostats, relays ect. Adjust contacters, relays, bus rigging, ect. Reconnects terminal seads, panel boards, and distribution feeders. Cleans all areas of the plant when not directed by supervisor to do anything else. Shunts out defective coils to return equipment back to operation. Changes dc motor characteristics by shunting series, coils, ect. Installs conduit, fittings, switches, controls and fixtures; wires and connects all types of electrical equipment as required for new installations or replacement of facilities. Makes all required splices and connector joints. Adjust all new equipment for proper operating characteristics. Must be familiar with PCL operating systems. The incumbent is expected to understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers. Must have a good background in math and computers Must achieve a minimum score test score of 65 on the electrician test Must have a minimum of five years’ experience on the job. Expected to be able to lift, push, pull, 100 pounds. Required to stand, walk, or climb for the entire shift. Must be able to bend, squat and have full range of all limbs without restrictions.
