This is a Night Shift Position 12hr shift with a 2/2/3 shift schedule

What You Will Do 

The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and health standards for Freshpet food production facilities. This role will develop and implement Freshpet sanitation policies while overseeing all sanitation operators and promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. This role also performs regular inspections adhering to food safety and quality standards and is responsible for maintaining budgets and inventory for the sanitation staff.

 

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Supervise over plant sanitation and front-end sanitation staff by actively being present on the production floor during shift time
  • Ensure proper procedures are in place and being followed for employee safety, food safety, and plant cleanliness
  • Work with plant management and other supervisory staff to maximize plant cleanliness and efficiency of line turn around
  • Provide supervision of assigned employees through scheduling and daily activities, ensuring effective selection, retention, feedback, disciplinary action and performance management
  • Support the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the master sanitation program, environmental cleaning program, and Hygiena program
  • Implement and maintain SSOP’s ensuring compliance with Company standards as stated in the QA & SQF Manual, company directives, and company safety
  • Validate SSOPs and sanitation programs annually or when changes occur to fit SQF compliance
  • Periodically audit sanitation processes to ensure compliance with SSOPs, safety, GMP’s, and Quality
  • Collaborate with QA staff to troubleshoot and analyze sanitation-related issues, concerns, or GMP audit findings
  • Recommend measures to continuously improve sanitation methods, equipment performance, and quality of products produced and distributed by the plant
  • Manage relationships with outside vendors such as the plant chemical supplier
  • Coordinate training to the sanitation team members and other company employees regarding sanitation standards, GMP’s, SSOP’s, Safety, Food Safety, SQF, and team objectives
  • Manage inventory and order of all cleaning and sanitation chemicals, tools, and PPE.
  • Maintain up to date records on Programs, inventory, and titrations
  • Other duties as assigned

 

What You Will Bring

  • Sound knowledge of safety, food safety and sanitation program requirements for the food industry
  • Familiar with food manufacturing, sanitation, and/or microbiology
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based applications
  • Basic knowledge of food processing including sanitation
  • Project Management skills (must be capable of handling multiple projects)
  • Basic knowledge of FDA/SQF regulations
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Sound ethics
  • Team management skills
  • Able to work in production areas under hot, humid and/or refrigerated conditions
  • Able to work varied days/shifts to support business needs.  Mainly nights, on 12-hour shifts (2-2-3 schedule)
  • Lift and perform physical labor during plant tests or product start-ups
  • Work extended hours to complete tasks/special projects
  • Occasional travel

 

Education/Skills

  • High School Diploma/GED; College degree required
  • Minimum (3 years) working in Manufacturing/Sanitation, preferably in food or pet food
