Description
SUMMARY:
The Driver Lead assists and reports to the Transportation Manager/Production Manager. The Driver Lead assists in the management of everything that has to do with routing, collection and bin placements. The Driver Lead is a seasoned and a proven responsible driver, who does all jobs assigned by the Manager to help make the collection run smoothly and maximize the pounds.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other responsibilities may be assigned):
- Check drivers in and out, including:
- Truck assignment, vehicle inspection, ensuring that drives have correct paperwork and promptly leave for their routes. Sign bin keys in and out.
- Run collection routes and pick up overflows as needed.
- The Driver Lead may have a few regular routes assigned on a weekly basis, or may just run routes that are uncovered due to driver call out.

- Audit drivers and Routes
- Investigate Theft
- Conduct internal/external investigations
- Verifying that routes are being run as planned
- Verify bins fully emptied
- Verify drivers are driving responsibly
- Fix bin issues in the field
- Replace locks and barcodes and other minor bin maintenance
- Replace bins on sites
- Attend to dumping and trash issues
- Assist the manager with routing
- Reroute collection routes and territories
- Monitoring the truck tracking applications
- Ensure that the collection Database is updated in a timely manner.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma/GED and 3-5 years of truck driving, additional experience being a team leader is preferred: or the equivalent combination of education and experience:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand and sit. The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds repetitively. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
