JOB SUMMARY:
The O&M Superintendent is responsible for the leadership, oversight, and management of power plant chemistry, water treatment, and wastewater treatment operations at Newman Generating Station. This position supports the organization's commitment to safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally compliant power generation by ensuring the effective operation of plant chemistry and water systems. The Superintendent provides technical expertise, drives regulatory compliance, supports asset reliability and performance objectives, and collaborates with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Environmental, and external stakeholders to achieve plant and business goals.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or closely related technical field. Master's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline preferred.
EXPERIENCE:Â
7 or more years of progressive experience in power generation water chemistry, industrial water treatment, wastewater treatment, environmental compliance, or related disciplines.Â

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide leadership and technical oversight for all plant water chemistry, water treatment, laboratory, and wastewater treatment operations.
Develop, implement, and maintain chemistry programs for utility boilers, HRSGs, steam cycle systems, condensate, feedwater, and associated plant equipment in accordance with industry standards and best practices.
Direct chemistry monitoring programs to minimize corrosion, scaling, deposition, and equipment degradation while supporting long-term asset reliability.
Lead the station's Flow Accelerated Corrosion (FAC) program, including monitoring, inspections, analysis, mitigation, and program development.
Provide technical expertise for chemical cleaning, deposit analysis, corrosion control, root cause investigations, and chemistry-related performance improvements.
Administer cooling water treatment, cooling tower chemistry, demineralized water systems, and high-purity water production processes.
Lead the operation and optimization of the Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) wastewater treatment facility and associated treatment technologies.
Ensure compliance with environmental permits, water quality standards, reporting requirements, regulatory commitments, and applicable environmental regulations.
Oversee laboratory operations, sampling programs, analytical testing, quality assurance activities, data validation, and records management.
Evaluate chemistry trends, operational data, laboratory results, and equipment performance to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Develop and maintain operating procedures, technical standards, training materials, and chemistry-related guidelines.
Support outage planning, maintenance activities, capital projects, budgeting, contract administration, procurement activities, and vendor management related to chemistry and water treatment systems.
Supervise assigned personnel and contractors, promote a strong safety culture

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Demonstrated experience supporting utility boilers, Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs), steam cycle chemistry programs, or large-scale industrial water treatment systems.
Strong working knowledge of cooling water treatment, demineralization systems, boiler water chemistry, wastewater treatment processes, and laboratory operations.
Knowledge of applicable environmental regulations, permits, industry standards, and utility operating practices.
Valid driver's license with the ability to travel throughout the service territory as needed.
Experience in utility-scale power generation environments.
Knowledge of supercritical and/or subcritical boiler chemistry programs.
Experience managing Flow Accelerated Corrosion (FAC) programs and chemistry-driven asset management initiatives.
Familiarity with EPRI Water Chemistry Guidelines and other industry best practices.
Experience with Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) wastewater treatment systems and associated technologies, including clarifiers, HERO systems, filter presses, sludge handling equipment, and advanced water recovery processes.
Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or relevant industry certifications preferred.
