General Summary of the Position
The Structures Foreman serves as a supervisory position, leading and overseeing construction crews to ensure high-quality work and adherence to project schedules. This role involves mentoring new crew members, preparing detailed progress reports, and addressing discrepancies in contracted work. The Foreman is also responsible for developing work schedules, ordering necessary materials, and conducting safety assessments.
Essential Functions
Leadership and Supervision:
- Lead the crew and ensure high-quality work completion.
- Mentor new crew members and provide on-the-job training.
- Assign tasks based on crew members' strengths.
Administration:
- Reports to the Superintendent on work progress and quality regularly.
- Address minor discrepancies in contracted work scope.
Planning and Scheduling:
- Adjust weekly work schedule to meet production goals as needed.
- Ensure necessary materials and equipment are available in advance.
Safety:
- Conduct safety assessments and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Lead safety toolbox meetings and provide safety training.
Quality Control:
- Inspect work regularly and coach on any deficiencies as needed.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: 3-6 years as a foreman or other supervisory experience in construction.
Certifications: OSHA 30 certification preferred.
Skills: Basic knowledge of construction and supervisory roles, safety protocols, and experience operating heavy equipment.
