BI WORLDWIDE is seeking an experienced Strategic Sourcing Manager to help the company realize the full potential value of its external spend. This role partners with business leaders and purchasing stakeholders to identify opportunities, develop sourcing strategies, conduct competitive sourcing events, negotiate favorable commercial terms, and improve supplier value across assigned direct and indirect spend categories.
The Strategic Sourcing Manager will lead sourcing initiatives across assigned direct and indirect spend categories, including technology, professional services, corporate services, travel, logistics, merchandise, and other areas based on business needs.
Roles & Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing
- Lead sourcing initiatives for assigned products, services, and spend categories from opportunity identification through supplier selection and implementation.
- Partner with stakeholders to define requirements, evaluate current suppliers, understand business needs, and develop sourcing strategies.
- Prepare and manage RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, proposal evaluations, and competitive bidding processes.
- Negotiate pricing, service levels, payment terms, renewals, implementation responsibilities, and other commercial provisions.
- Coordinate reviews with Legal, Information Security, Finance, Technology, and other subject matter experts.
Savings and Spend Management Value Creation
- Maintain a prioritized pipeline of sourcing and cost-savings opportunities with documented baselines, assumptions, timing, and ownership.
- Analyze spend, pricing, supplier concentration, contract coverage, and market conditions to identify opportunities and risks.
- Develop business cases and partner with Finance and business owners to validate and track negotiated and realized benefits.
- Provide regular reporting on sourcing activity, project status, savings, and procurement performance measures.
Purchasing Process & Stakeholder Partnership
- Support purchasing policies, procedures, templates, sourcing standards, and consistent practices across business units.
- Promote early involvement in significant purchases, renewals, and supplier negotiations.
- Partner with Corporate Technology and purchasing system users to improve workflows, reporting, data, and use of purchasing technology.
- Facilitate cross-functional sourcing teams, communicate recommendations clearly, and balance value, service, quality, flexibility, timing, and risk.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong strategic sourcing, negotiation, analytical, project-management, and supplier-management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead competitive sourcing events and complex supplier negotiations.
- Knowledge of category management, total cost of ownership, supplier relationship management, and commercial agreements.
- Ability to analyze spend, pricing, supplier proposals, and financial information and establish supportable savings baselines.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, service-focused, and accountable for results in a changing business environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and related analysis, reporting, presentation, and project-management tools.
- Experience with ERP, procure-to-pay, contract-management, or spend-analysis systems
Education & Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, supply chain management, procurement, operations, or a related field preferred.
- Five or more years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, purchasing, category management, supplier management, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience developing and executing RFPs, RFQs, competitive bidding processes, and supplier negotiations.
- Experience managing sourcing initiatives from opportunity identification through supplier selection, implementation, and benefit realization.
- Experience sourcing indirect spend categories such as technology, software, professional services, marketing, travel, logistics, facilities, or corporate services is preferred.
- Professional designations such as CPSM, CPM, CSCP, or an equivalent procurement or supply-chain certification is beneficial but not required.
Base Salary Range: $110,000 to $130,000. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant's background, experience, skills, and the scope of category and spend responsibility.
