Position Overview
This role manages the supply chain interaction between Six Sigma Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) projects and the worldwide drivetrain value streams. The Supply Chain Project Specialist ensures component and prime product facilities, parts, and dealers are working toward the earliest CPI effectivity while minimizing scrap and rework. This position serves as the single point of contact who proactively identifies and prevents supply chain issues and acts as the go-to subject matter expert on supply chain best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain awareness of pending and active CPI projects, creating a consolidated single view to communicate and manage anticipated impacts to the value chain
- Collaborate proactively with Black Belts, purchasing, supply chain, and engineering teams to phase components in and out across multiple worldwide facilities, optimizing CPI effectivity and minimizing scrap
- Manage service letter inventory requirements and partner with service engineering and purchasing to resolve related issues
- Provide ongoing visibility into expected scrap and CPI effectivity dates
- Obtain component and machine serial number effectivity data
- Consolidate reporting and visualizations for stakeholders
- Interface with operations and depot supply chain analysts, providing feedback to drive drivetrain efficiency gains
- Create, facilitate, and manage Part Stocking Requests (ISR/PSR) in close collaboration with product support
- Serve as the Supply Chain subject matter expert, coaching and advising Black Belts on minimizing value chain disruptions
- Identify and implement process and tool effectiveness improvements
- Work with the parts depot purchasing team and supply base (internal and purchased finished goods) to optimize regular and expedited transport of materials for dealers and customers
- Collaborate with Product Support to manage customer and dealer material stock across short- and long-term horizons
Scope
- This role works across all drivetrain systems – torque converters, transmissions, axles, final drives, electric drive, and CVTs – and their corresponding L1-L3 components.
Work Environment
- Office environment with occasional in-person and virtual meetings and collaboration. Occasional travel to production, supplier, or R&D facilities.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Business, or an equivalent level of work experience and 3-5 years of professional-level experience
Technical Skills
Required:
- Working knowledge of supply chain theory and terminology, with basic computer skills
Preferred:
- Familiarity with related functional areas such as Product Development, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Operations; ability to learn and perform quality analysis
Soft Skills
Required:
- Demonstrated project management skills, team leadership skills, and excellent communication skills
