Job Purpose

As a Manufacturing Quality Engineer, your mission is to ensure daily shop-floor quality compliance, drive rapid defect containment, and maintain high yields during active production ramps of advanced metal components for high-volume consumer electronics. Reporting to Quality Leadership, you will work directly alongside production operators, machinists, and engineers to execute inspection routines, disposition non-conforming material, and perform physical failure analysis to prevent escapes in high-velocity manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide daily, hands-on quality support to consumer technology production lines, monitoring line yields, scrap rates, and first-pass yields (FPY).
  • Lead immediate containment and Material Review Board (MRB) evaluations for non-conforming lots, isolating defect trends to minimize production downtime.
  • Set up and execute optical, CMM, and cosmetic inspection protocols (AQL standards) for high-precision, high-finish consumer hardware components.
  • Compile First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and verify mechanical/dimensional compliance against engineering drawings and GD&T specifications.
  • Support line-level defect investigations using 8D and 5-Why methodologies, collecting photo, measurement, and physical evidence to support root-cause resolution.
  • Perform regular operator observation walks, audit line clearance protocols, and ensure Device History Records (DHR) and lot traveler documentation are 100% compliant.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of Quality Engineering experience in high-volume hardware, consumer electronics, precision machining, or advanced metal manufacturing environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, Quality, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience; equivalent hands-on experience will also be considered.
  •  Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5), metrology tools (CMM, optical comparators, height gauges), basic SPC, and 8D root-cause troubleshooting.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-rate manufacturing environments where rapid containment is critical to keeping lines running.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with consumer technology enclosure manufacturing, metal additive manufacturing, CNC machining, or specialized surface finishing (anodizing, polishing, heat treatment).
  •  ASQ certification (CQE, CQA) or Six Sigma Green Belt.
