Role Overview

The Supervisor / UT / MPI helps lead day-to-day operations in the saw and milling areas in a manufacturing environment while also performing UT and dry MPI inspections. This role is responsible for directing employees, coordinating work priorities, supporting material flow, ensuring inspection requirements are met, reinforcing safety and quality expectations, maintaining area readiness, ensuring completed work moves efficiently to the next operation, and working closely with the warehouse manager to support material flow and production priorities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead, direct, and support employees working in the saw and milling areas.
  • Supervise teammates responsible for cutting customer and stock orders from mold die steel using saws.
  • Oversee employees milling large bars and blocks for stock.
  • Perform ultrasonic testing inspections in accordance with company procedures, customer requirements, and applicable specifications.
  • Perform dry magnetic particle inspections in accordance with company procedures, customer requirements, and applicable specifications.
  • Prioritize available jobs, assign daily work, and adjust priorities as needed to meet production schedules.
  • Verify material identification, dimensions, order accuracy, inspection requirements, and required documentation.
  • Ensure saw, milling, UT, and dry MPI work is completed accurately and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Coordinate material flow and ensure completed work moves to the proper next department or operation in a timely manner.
  • Monitor work areas to ensure employees are following safe work practices and company safety requirements.
  • Stop work when unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, or quality issues are identified.
  • Coach employees on safe work practices, quality expectations, equipment operation, and job procedures.
  • Conduct safety contact meetings, support monthly safety training, and reinforce safe work practices.
  • Communicate with management, quality, maintenance, sales, and production teams regarding material, equipment, scheduling, or quality concerns.
  • Maintain accurate production, inspection, and safety-related records as required.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards throughout the work area.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least a Level II certified UT inspector.
  • Must be qualified to perform dry MPI inspections.
  • Experience in a manufacturing, saw, machine shop, material handling, inspection, or related production environment.
  • Ability to lead employees, assign work, set priorities, and follow up on daily production needs.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, specifications, inspection requirements, measurements, and production documentation.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, traceability, documentation, and housekeeping standards.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with operators, material handlers, quality, maintenance, sales, and other departments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior supervisory, lead, or coordinator experience in a production environment.
  • Experience with saw operations, milling equipment, mold die steel, heavy material handling, production records, or cross-department workflow.
  • Experience coordinating material movement, production priorities, inspection requirements, or follow-up items between departments.

Work Environment

This position works in a manufacturing environment with regular interaction on the shop floor in saw, milling, and inspection areas. The role requires attention to safety, equipment awareness, material handling activity, inspection accuracy, and consistent communication with production employees and support departments.
