Hickory Trail Hospital, an 86-bed behavioral health facility located just south of Dallas, has been providing quality health care to the residents of DFW since 1988. Hickory Trail Hospital provides inpatient and day treatment for children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults. Our professional staff individualizes care to uniquely fit the intensity and severity of each client's case and their family's needs. Because crisis occurs at all times of the day and night, our services are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.Ā  We are also a proud supporter of the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention.

Position Summary:

The Recreation & Wellness Coordinator is responsible for creating and implementing engaging recreational, educational, and therapeutic activities that promote patient wellness, socialization, and recovery. This role works closely with the interdisciplinary treatment team to provide meaningful programming that supports the emotional, physical, and psychosocial needs of patients in a behavioral health setting. The ideal candidate is energetic, compassionate, creative, and passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of others.


Qualifications

Education:Ā High school graduation or equivalent required.Ā Ā Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Occupational, Art, Music, orĀ Recreation therapy, humanities, socialĀ workĀ or related therapeutic disciplineĀ is preferred.Ā 

Experience:Ā One (1) year of related experience, withĀ knowledgeĀ of psychiatric patient careĀ techniques with understanding of mental illness,Ā isĀ preferred.Ā 

Licensure:Ā Certification or licensure by state and/or national governingĀ bodyĀ in ofĀ the following areas:Ā art, occupational, recreation, or music therapy, preferred.Ā 

Additional Requirements:Ā Successful completion of CPR Certification and successful completion of de-escalation and restraint trainingĀ prior to assisting with a restrainingĀ procedure.Ā Ā Certification training may be obtained during new hire orientation.Ā Ā May beĀ requiredĀ to work overtime and flexible hours.Ā Ā Ā
