About the Role
The Manager, Fleet Operations is responsible for leading UniGroup's Fleet Operations team while driving operational performance, fleet utilization, and financial results. This role oversees day-to-day fleet operations, supports a network of agency partners and van operators, and ensures efficient execution of transportation services.
This position is well suited for a leader who enjoys balancing people leadership, operational strategy, and business performance. Success in this role requires strong relationship-building skills, a focus on continuous improvement, and the ability to drive results across a complex transportation network.
What You'll Do
- Lead and develop the Fleet Operations team, providing coaching, training, and performance management.
- Drive operational excellence by identifying process improvements and implementing best practices.
- Monitor operational and financial performance, including revenue, profit margins, budgets, and key performance indicators.
- Optimize fleet utilization to maximize efficiency and profitability.
- Oversee van operator recruitment, retention, qualifications, and operational support.
- Partner with agency stakeholders to manage transportation orders and support service execution.
- Collaborate with planners, agents, van operators, and internal teams to resolve operational issues and improve results.
- Support customer implementations, account management activities, and ongoing service needs.
- Monitor accounts receivable activity and assist in maintaining strong financial performance.
- Participate in customer and provider business reviews and support strategic growth initiatives.
- Serve as a liaison between UniGroup business units, agency partners, and other key stakeholders.
- Support additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Three to five years of transportation, logistics, fleet operations, or related industry experience.
- Experience leading teams, coordinating operations, or managing cross-functional initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience managing transportation, fleet, or logistics operations.
- Prior leadership or people management experience.
- Experience with financial planning, budgeting, P&L management, or performance metrics.
- Familiarity with fleet utilization, capacity planning, and operational optimization.
- Experience working with agent networks, service providers, or transportation stakeholders.
- Knowledge of household goods, moving, transportation, or logistics industries.
