Vylor is seeking creative, highly motivated engineering students to join our 2027 Internship Program (6 months) based in the Des Moines metropolitan area. The engineering team is engaged in a diverse range of innovative projects that provide interns with meaningful, hands-on engineering experience. These projects are designed to help interns bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application, enabling them to develop and strengthen their technical and professional skills. In addition, the internship offers a valuable opportunity for individuals to showcase their capabilities and explore future career opportunities with Vylor. 


Responsibilities – What You’ll Do: 

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of experienced engineering professionals in the development of projects. 
  • Develop an understanding of company research processes and critical technology needs. 
  • Conduct the appropriate discovery, design, fabrication, integration, deployment and support of engineering solutions. 
  • Contribute to projects across a variety of operational areas, including automated greenhouses, insectary operations, high-throughput laboratories, seed handling systems, and field equipment. 
  • Support projects spanning multiple engineering disciplines, including mechanical, agricultural, electrical, and software engineering. 
  • Work on projects ranging in scope from simple hand tools and fixtures up to fully automated systems from concept to implementation. 
  • Work in a collaborative, business-casual environment that promotes flexibility and work-life balance. 

Qualifications – What You’ll Bring: 

The following requirements MUST be met for consideration in this student employment program: 

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited engineering program at a college or university and pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, with at least two years of coursework completed. 
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. 
  • Demonstrated experience using 3D CAD software; SolidWorks is preferred. 
  • Ability to work safely around common machine shop equipment. 
  • Strong teamwork skills with a commitment to collaboration, professionalism, and respect for all individuals. 
  • Commitment to conducting work in a legal, ethical, and responsible manner. 
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship or employment restrictions. 

In addition to these requirements, we are seeking candidates who have demonstrated the following core competencies: 

  • Demonstrated innovation skills. 
  • Outstanding problem-solving, analytical and interpersonal skills. 
  • Excellent writing/verbal communication and presentation skills.
