Position: Precision Phenotyping 6-month Summer Internship

Grow what's next. Grow your future. We are seeking a Precision Phenotyping Intern to participate in a 6-month internship! The internship will be based out of Johnston, IA or Princeton, IL.  As a Precision Phenotyping Intern you will have the opportunity to lead, execute, and analyze results for a precision phenotyping project as well as obtain experiences across the areas of remote sensing, plant characterization, and plant breeding research activities. Â
Position will start in the Spring of 2027 with a duration of 6 months.
Responsibilities – What You’ll Do: Â
- You will work as part of a team in one or more of the following research areas: precision phenotyping tasks associated with trait/product development, digital ag, and/or plant breeding projects.
- You will assist the Precision Phenotyping Team with tasks associated with field data collection, sensor testing, validation, image analytics, pipeline development and/or model development.
- You will also manage your own research project in the area of precision phenotyping trait/tool validation with the expectation of a verbal report to a larger audience at the conclusion of your internship. Â
- Intern positions provide excellent experience that can be applied to full-time positions in the industry, or in preparation for additional graduate level training. Â
Qualifications – What You’ll Bring: Â
- Priority will be given to students that are at least current sophomores at an accredited university. Interns can be undergraduate or graduate students.
- Education focus in Agronomy, Plant Physiology, Plant Breeding, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Biology, Plant Pathology, Horticulture, Entomology, Weed Science, or a related field
- Remote sensing or plant phenotyping background beneficial
- Agricultural or plant breeding background beneficial
- Knowledge of R for statistical analyses and visualizations beneficial
- Knowledge of Python beneficial
- Preference will be given to student with a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Must be enrolled at an accredited university at the time of internship
