Primary Objective:

Performs checks, tests, gauging and instrument inspections of raw materials, purchased components, goods-in-process and finished products to ensure conformance with quality standards.  

Major Areas of Accountability

 

  1. Uses inspection and test equipment to inspect incoming material, in-process and finished products in accordance with Quality Assurance inspection plans and techniques.

 

  1. Determines proper sample sizes using charts and inspection plans in accordance with current statistical methods.

 

  1. Records inspection results and reports number of defects found within the Quality Management System database (QMS); follows nonconforming materials processes as required.

 

  1. Provides support to other departments for supplier quality activities (e.g., RMA process, supplier visits).

 

  1. Performs tests on various PC board assemblies, magnets, floats, etc., using automated testers and other simple test equipment.     

 

  1. Performs in-process inspection of materials and processes as needed in production areas and follows nonconforming materials processes for production items when conditions warrant.

 

  1. Applies accepted standards to inspect visually for obvious defects, which requires viewing objects using magnification at times.

 

  1. Knows and applies the division’s quality policy and procedures of AS9100 as it relates to area of responsibility and the organization.  Follows all standard operating procedures as prescribed and notifies appropriate personnel of any non-conformance.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience

  • Proficient in data analysis packages
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Proven solid manual dexterity
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Good mathematical skills
  • Ability to enforce our commitment to quality - must be able to not only identify the problem but also address employees in professional manner to correct the problem and understand why it was not acceptable by teaching employees correct quality standards.
