The Senior Accounting Analyst is responsible for supporting accurate and timely financial reporting through the preparation of accounting entries, reconciliations, analyses, and financial statements for DOWCs, FWS and CWS and related regulatory filings. This role partners with internal teams, vendors, external customers, field representatives, and regulatory offices to maintain strong accounting processes, ensure data integrity, complex reconciliations, support compliance requirements, and drive continuous improvement across assigned business areas.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES (may include, but not all encompassing):

  • Prepare DOWC financial entries, account reconciliations, journal entries, reports, and supporting analyses for assigned business areas. 
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements accurately and within established deadlines.  Including drafting audited financials and preparing statutory annual statements for regulated companies.
  • Reconcile financial information to operational data, ensure data integrity, research discrepancies, and resolve issues.
  • Reconcile 3rd party insurance premium invoices to our data to validate complete and accurate billing.  Work with various parties (internal and external) to resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
  • Analyze and explain financial variances and provide clear support for reporting conclusions.
  • Process and support customer payments and related accounting activity.
  • Partner with vendors, external customers, field representatives, regulatory offices, and internal departments to support accurate accounting, reporting, transaction recording, and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain process documentation, strengthen controls, recommend improvements, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk.
  • Support audits, regulatory filings, corporate initiatives, special projects, cross-training, and ongoing development of accounting, systems, and process knowledge.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS (key success factors, types and amounts of work experience, areas of knowledge, relocation):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; master’s degree a plus.
  • Minimum of seven years of professional accounting experience required; CPA strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required, including advanced formulas and basic macros; proficiency in Microsoft Word preferred.
  • Experience using integrated general ledger systems required; NetSuite, Essbase, Mainframe, CoPilot, and other AI tools experience a plus.
  • Model Audit Rule experience and insurance industry experience a plus.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, regulatory reporting requirements, account reconciliations, account analysis, variance explanations, and audit trails from operational systems to the general ledger.
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to explain how assigned processes support the overall financial statements.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, time management, follow-up skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with associates, customers, vendors, and leadership.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, take ownership of assigned responsibilities, make sound decisions, provide direction when needed, and support department goals as a team player.

  • Must be available to work overtime as needed during month-end, year-end, audits, and other critical deadlines.
  • Work in-person/hybrid in the Deerfield Beach, FL office.
