Job Summary:

Demonstrates through behavior Decatur Morgan Hospital’s mission, vision and values.  Performs ultrasound examinations of the heart and vessels to assist the physician in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the cardiovascular system. Lead echo technologist will perform quality tests for equipment, procedures, and other technologists. Lead Technologist will assist with echo training, staff education, department coverage, and scheduling.  

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions

  • Knowledgeable of and selects appropriate ultrasound equipment for echocardiogram procedures
  • Monitors sound waves for quality of ultrasonic patterns and documents on appropriate media to obtain a permanent record of examination
  • Consults with physicians as required regarding collection of test data and critical test results
  • Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly. Inspects equipment daily to ensure it is operating effectively. Reports malfunctions
  • Collaborates effectively with other members of the healthcare team concerning pertinent patient information and interventions needed.
  • Perform quality tests for equipment, procedures, and other technologists
  • Strive to improve the quality of echo studies by staff training and education
  • Perform chart audits, statistics, quality, and other duties assigned.
  • Qualifications

    Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required:

    Education:  High school diploma or GED. Registry by CCI or ARDMS preferred. BLS certified

    Experience: 2+ years of Experience
