We are seeking a dedicated Elementary Special Education Resource Teacher to support students receiving special education services in Wayne County, Michigan​. This role provides targeted individual and small-group instruction to help students strengthen academic skills, access the general education curriculum, and make measurable progress toward their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized individual and small-group instruction in a resource room setting.
  • Support students in core academic areas including reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Implement specially designed instruction based on individual IEP goals.
  • Develop, review, and monitor IEP goals and student progress.
  • Adapt instructional materials and provide appropriate accommodations and modifications.
  • Collect and analyze student data to measure progress and adjust instruction.
  • Serve as case manager for assigned students and maintain required special education documentation.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and progress reviews.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to support students in inclusive classroom settings.
  • Work with families, paraeducators, and related service providers to coordinate student support.
  • Support students in developing academic independence, organization, and self-advocacy skills.


Requirements

• Valid state teaching credential in Special Education
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• Minimum of 6 months of relevant experience within the past 5 years
