The Thermal Systems Lead Engineer; Electrical & Power will focus on the critical intersection of power distribution and thermal management systems. You will lead the effort to design and validate integrated electrical and cooling reference designs that improve efficiency and resilience. A key focus will be on driving the adoption and interoperability of high-voltage DC power architectures (e.g., 800VDC) within our system-level solutions.  Further, this role will ensure future power and electrical ecosystems advances are integrated into our reference architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the integration of electrical and power systems into our data center reference designs.
  • Lead the end-to-end design of electrical power systems for data center projects, from medium/low voltage switchgear and distribution down to the IT rack level.
  • Provide technical expertise on power distribution, backup power systems (UPS, generators, PDUs, static transfer switches), and power monitoring systems (EPMS) to ensure maximum uptime and availability.
  • Ensure the electrical integrity, interoperability, and compatibility of integrated systems, including racks, power distribution, and thermal management components like CDUs and chillers.
  • Address complex integration challenges, including managing power transients from AI workloads, mitigating arc flash hazards in high-density liquid-cooled environments, and ensuring tight coordination between IT and facilities teams.
  • Develop and manage strategic partnerships with electrical gear manufacturers to ensure seamless interoperability.
  • Drive proof-of-concept projects and validation for new power architectures, including 800VDC.
  • Collaborate with other engineering leads to optimize system-level Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE).
  • Provide subject matter expertise on power distribution, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and power monitoring for data center applications.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and technical guidance to junior engineers and cross-functional team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing.
  • Stay current with the latest trends and technologies in data center power and relevant codes and standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of electrical engineering experience, with relevant current focus on electrical and power for data centers.
  • Significant experience in power systems design for data centers or other mission critical facilities.
  • Experience with data center power standards and trends, including high-voltage DC.
  • Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment serving mission critical customers
