We provide turnkey, custom power packages that integrate alternators, cooling systems, controls, switchgear, cabling, and protection, delivered as containerized, skid, or walk-in solutions. Our team manages the full lifecycle from application engineering and 3D design to structural fabrication, wiring and piping, sound and thermal management, code compliance, factory acceptance testing, and site support. With scalable production capacity and disciplined program management, PSI delivers repeatable quality and reliable performance on complex builds for mission-critical and industrial applications worldwide. Position Summary: Reporting to the Director, Quality, the Quality Engineer II is responsible for ensuring compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards and serves as a subject matter expert and technical resource across quality functions. This role includes developing and maintaining quality system documentation, overseeing supplier quality, analyzing field performance data, independently leading improvement projects, mentoring junior quality staff, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and leading problem-solving activities across both the Darien and Beloit facilities. Essential Responsibilities: This list is not all-inclusive and may be expanded at management's discretion. Lead and facilitate corrective actions using structured problem-solving tools such as 8D, DMAIC, and Root Cause Analysis; independently own corrective action closure and effectiveness verification with minimal supervision. Conduct onsite and remote supplier audits and develop supplier improvement plans; lead supplier qualification and disqualification decisions and manage ongoing supplier performance scorecards. Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management System (QMS) documentation including procedures, work instructions, forms, process maps, and manuals; take ownership of assigned QMS sections and drive document control improvements. Support the creation and implementation of Standard Work. Monitor, analyze, and report field performance data (e.g., customer returns, warranty claims) and initiate improvement actions; develop and present trend analysis and recommendations to cross-functional leadership. Maintain and track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as DPPM, internal defects, audit findings, and supplier scorecards; proactively identify KPI trends and escalate risks with recommended corrective strategies. Conduct internal audits at planned intervals to assess QMS conformance and identify improvement opportunities; lead audit teams and train junior engineers or technicians on audit methodology. Provide training and coaching to employees on quality standards, procedures, and systems; serve as a mentor and technical resource for Quality Engineer I and QC Technician staff. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, and Customer Service) to resolve quality issues and ensure compliance. Participate in the development and maintenance of FMEAs, Control Plans, and Risk Assessments; independently lead FMEA and Control Plan development for new programs and design changes. Serve as the quality liaison for customer and supplier escalations, including complaint resolution and response preparation; independently manage customer communication for significant quality concerns and containment actions. Drive continual improvement through trend analysis, CAPA tracking, and structured follow-up. Maintain ISO documentation in alignment with ISO 9001 standards and lead document control efforts. Support new product introduction and design change processes from a quality perspective; lead APQP activities and PPAP submissions for assigned programs. Participate in team meetings and best-practice sharing across PSI facilities. Act as a resource and escalation point for quality issues on the manufacturing floor, supporting both Darien and Beloit sites. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or a related field; degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred. Minimum 5 years in a quality-focused role in a manufacturing environment. 3+ years of experience with direct ISO 9001 or IATF/TS 16949 auditing responsibilities; internal or lead auditor certification preferred. Demonstrated experience with structured problem-solving tools (8D, fishbone, 5 Whys, DMAIC). Demonstrated experience with quality tools such as FMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, APQP, and SPC. Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret quality data and drive corrective action; ability to present quality data and recommendations to senior leadership independently. Willingness to travel domestically up to 10% for supplier visits or audits. Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience with ERP and QMS software (e.g., Epicor or equivalent) preferred. Six Sigma Green Belt or ASQ CQE certification preferred Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and metrology equipment (CMM, gauges) preferred.
