Job Summary
- The Extended Care Aide provides a safe, nurturing, and faith-filled environment for preschool children before and/or after the regular school day. The aide is responsible for supervising children, assisting with age-appropriate activities and routines, and creating a welcoming environment that reflects the mission and values of Catholic education.
- The ideal candidate is caring, dependable, patient, energetic, and enjoys working with young children. The Extended Care Aide works closely with preschool teachers and school staff to ensure children are safe, happy, and well cared for throughout the extended care period.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide attentive and active supervision of preschool children at all times.
- Help provide a warm, welcoming, and positive classroom environment.
- Supervise children during after school playtime, arrival, dismissal, and transitions.
- Assist children with age-appropriate personal needs, including handwashing, toileting, snacks, and dressing.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment.
- Encourage positive social interactions, cooperation, kindness, and respectful behavior.
- Support the integration of Catholic faith and values into the daily after care experience.
- Help children learn and practice age-appropriate prayers, virtues, and Christian values.
- Communicate appropriately and respectfully with teachers, families, and school staff.
- Follow all school policies and procedures regarding child safety, supervision, confidentiality, and health.
- Attend staff meetings, training, or professional development as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Preschool Director or lead teacher.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with children (especially in educational or religious settings).
- Commitment to supporting the mission, teachings, and values of the Catholic Church and Catholic education.
- A genuine love for and patience with preschool-aged children.
- First aid/CPR certification preferred.
- Background check and Safe Environment Training.
