Job Summary
The Manager Logistics & Purchasing is responsible for planning and overseeing global transportation both inbound and outbound into CMOs, distribution centers (DC’s), and from DC’s to customers (retail and parcels)
This position is responsible for PO maintenance of packaging suppliers and contract manufacturers.
This position is responsible for leading execution strategies and operational moves to balance timely and cost-efficient delivery for projects
Responsibilities
Logistics
- Oversight Sun Pharma 3PL activities (inbound, outbound, samples) for NA Market – Proactiv brand
- Maintain complete oversight of 3PL operations and work closely on a daily basis with 3PL team to ensure seamless/timely receipt and dispatches of finished good
- Coordinate with international and domestic suppliers to secure ETAs and ensure smooth deliveries with freight companies and receivers.
- Negotiate transportation rates to optimize costs and monitor carrier performance for timely and efficient delivery.
- Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations and standards, optimizing shipping and receiving processes and complete carrier SOPs.
- Work closely with 3PL providers and internal teams to investigate and resolve shipments receiving, shortages, damages, and delivery discrepancies.
- Track performance vs financial budget for all activities related to warehousing and transportation( inbound, outbound, retail and DTC) have clear understanding of the drivers behind the discrepancy and identify potential risk and opportunities.
 Purchasing / Other
- Manage the relationship with all CMO’ vendors and suppliers, focusing on open order status, pricing, MOQ, lead-time, consumption variances, etc to successfully meet our inventory replenishment needs while maximizing profitability and minimizing net working capital
- Create purchase orders (PO’s) in SAP for finished goods and packaging materials based on requirements issued from planning team. Requirements will be reviewed in accordance with our supply agreements we have with our suppliers.
- Confirm receipt of POs with suppliers via EDI portal or email documentation.
- Maintain master data for all inventory purchased items.
- Assist Inventory Analyst with inventory discrepancies caused by EDI, ASN, receiving, or any other reason.
- Attend and participate in pertinent meetings such as weekly update meetings with our CMO’s, internal cross functional meetings, i.e. new launches, tech transfers.
- Reconcile pending goods receipts (GRNs) and investigate discrepancies in pricing, quantity, or invoices.
- Support finance teams with month- and quarter-end closures.
- Act as the primary liaison for daily operational issues, coordinating between vendors, logistics, QA, packaging, planning, and finance teams to ensure smooth operations and prompt resolution of problems.
- Monitor operational KPIs and identify areas for continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- Travel between Sun locations and to vendor sites required, as defined by business needs. Travel up to 30%.Â
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business or related field, required
- Master's degree (MBA), a plus.
- Five (5) or more years of transportation experience required.
- Global experience required including experience in importing and exporting product.
- Previous experience required in U.S. Parcel, Global Air and Ocean, Less Than Truckload (LTL), and Full Truck Load (FTL) is required and B2B and DTC experience transportation preferred.
- Experience within beauty, hair care, skin care, CPG (consumer package goods) industry and/or pharmaceutical environment strongly preferred.
- Ability to be a change agent and have history of leading significant change within an organization or department.
- Proficient with MS Office including PowerPoint and Excel.
- Experience in MRP systems, and SAP ERP experience preferred.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and work effectively in a constantly changing environment.
- Demonstrate advanced/expert proficiency in Excel techniques and statistical analysis; experience with “Vlookups”/ Pivot Tables.
The presently-anticipated base compensation pay range for this position is $94,000 to $115,000. Actual base compensation may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to geographical location and experience. In addition, this position is part of the Annual Performance Bonus Plan.
