Overview
The RATT Team Lead - Subject Matter Expert (SME) supports Commander, Naval Surface Forces, Pacific Fleet (CNSP) as part of the Readiness Assistance Training Team (RATT). The RATT provides direct, Sailor-centric training and technical assistance to surface ships to improve technical proficiency, material condition, organic capability, and overall readiness.
As the senior SME assigned to an individual ship visit team, the RATT Team Lead provides technical and supervisory leadership during shipboard RATT engagements. The Team Lead applies extensive Navy propulsion engineering and surface ship maintenance expertise to guide technical assistance, coordinate team activities, and support shipboard personnel in improving maintenance practices, technical proficiency, and readiness.
Location
San Diego, CA, with extensive travel in support of shipboard RATT visits throughout CONUS and OCONUS locationsĀ
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 15 years of supervisory experience in analyses, information system operations, and implementation of related technical projects
- Supervisory-level main propulsion experience involving U.S. Navy surface ship maintenance processesĀ
- Extensive experience serving as a shipboard Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW) aboard multiple shipsĀ
- Extensive experience in U.S. Navy ship main propulsion engineering across multiple shipsĀ
- Navy maintenance and/or training staff experience, such as at an Immediate Superior in Command (ISIC), Type Commander (TYCOM), or Afloat Training Group (ATG)Ā
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. Navy ship depot-level maintenance processesĀ
- In-depth knowledge of the theory and operation of surface ship maintenance processesĀ
- An undergraduate or associate degree or extensive demonstrated experience in a management roleĀ
- Ability and willingness to support extensive CONUS and OCONUS travel for shipboard RATT visits
- Must satisfy the applicable technical SME qualifications established for the assigned RATT ship visit team in one of the following areas:Ā
- Gas Turbine Main Propulsion & Control Systems SMEĀ
- Amphib Diesel Main Propulsion & Control Systems SMEĀ
- Amphib Steam Main Propulsion & Control Systems SMEĀ
Desired
- 25 or more years of experience in the supervisory analysis, information systems operations, and related technical project areas described above
