The Facilities & Grounds Maintenance Specialist is responsible for maintaining the buildings, grounds, and general physical assets across our four scrap yard locations.

This is a hands-on, handyman-style position for someone who enjoys fixing, building, improving, and maintaining facilities. The ideal candidate is versatile and capable of handling a wide range of projects including construction and carpentry, painting, landscaping, facility repairs, and general property maintenance. Welding and fabrication experience is strongly preferred.

The goal of this position is simple: keep our properties, buildings, and assets safe, functional, clean, professional, and well maintained.

This position will travel between company locations based on maintenance needs and project priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Building & Facility Maintenance

  • Perform general repairs and preventative maintenance on company buildings and facilities.

  • Perform interior and exterior painting, patching, caulking, and finishing.
  • Identify building deterioration or damage and address issues before they become larger repairs.
  • Assist with minor plumbing and other basic facility repairs within the employee's skill level.
  • Coordinate with management when a project requires a licensed or specialized contractor.

Grounds & Property Maintenance

  • Maintain the overall appearance and condition of all company properties.
  • Perform landscaping, weed control, trimming, cleanup, and general grounds maintenance.
  • Maintain parking areas, entrances, fencing, gates, signage, and common areas.
  • Remove debris and address trip hazards, damaged areas, and other property concerns.
  • Help ensure each location maintains a clean, organized, and professional appearance.

Welding & Fabrication

Welding experience preferred.

  • Perform basic welding and fabrication repairs when qualified.
  • Repair gates, fencing, railings, brackets, racks, containers, and other metal components.
  • Fabricate simple solutions for facility and operational needs.
  • Maintain welding tools and equipment in safe working condition.

Construction & Improvement Projects

  • Assist with facility upgrades, remodels, and improvement projects.
  • Build walls, storage areas, workstations, shelving, barriers, enclosures, and other structures as needed.
  • Install fixtures, hardware, signage, cabinets, shelving, and facility accessories.
  • Measure, cut, assemble, install, and finish materials accurately.
  • Help management develop practical, cost-effective solutions to property and facility needs.

Company Asset Upkeep

  • Help maintain company-owned physical assets outside of production equipment.
  • Inspect company property for damage, deterioration, or needed repairs.
  • Maintain tools, ladders, pressure washers, landscaping equipment, maintenance equipment, and supplies assigned to the position.
  • Keep maintenance materials and commonly used repair parts organized and stocked.

The Facilities & Grounds Maintenance Specialist will:
