Job DetailsJob Location: Coos Bay, OR 97420Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: 4 Year DegreeSalary Range: $92,705.60 - $115,876.80 Salary/yearThis position is a covered position as defined in the Coquille Indian Tribe Chapter 185 Child Protection Ordinance. Candidate must pass a pre-employment drug screen and Criminal and Character Background Check.   SUMMARY OF MAJOR FUNCTIONS        Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director for Office of Strategic Operations (OSO), the Grant Writing and Development Manager supports the Office of Strategic Operations and other Coquille Indian Tribe (CIT) departments and programs with grant writing and submission of applications for funding, building and cultivating relationships with foundation officers and granting agencies, and coordinating with department directors and senior leadership to align funding requests with organizational goals. This position is also responsible for championing grant management infrastructure and reporting systems.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Work directly with CIT department directors and senior leaders to write, compile, and submit high-quality grant proposals, applications, and letters of intent, ensuring compliance with funder guidelines and deadlines. Research, identify, and evaluate grant opportunities from federal, state, tribal, and private foundation sources that align with  CIT’s mission, departmental goals, and strategic plan. Coordinate with department directors and senior leadership across CIT to align funding requests with departmental and organizational goals and strategic priorities. Champion grant management infrastructure, including tracking systems, submission calendars, and internal processes that support consistent, organized grant activity across departments. Facilitate smooth transitions among stakeholders. Provide technical assistance and guidance to department staff on grant requirements and funder expectations. Monitor post-award grant reporting requirements, and facilitate timely and accurate submission of progress and coordinate on financial and outcome reports to funders. Supervise and provide direction to Grant Coordinators, including delegating work, managing performance, and supporting professional development. Build and maintain relationships with foundation officers, program officers, and granting agency representatives to support long-term funding partnerships. Meet with funding agencies and participate in site visits for projects to facilitate project progress and build relationships with the funding agency. Provide technical assistance and training support to program staff related to grant writing, grant applications, budget development meeting grant requirements, reporting timelines and allowable costs. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear.   The position requires local and regional travel of up to 30% of the employee’s work schedule, based on organizational needs. Travel may include meetings, events, site visits, and other work-related activities. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.   Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strengths in team building, and cooperative and creative problem solving. Extensive knowledge of grant funding, including identifying appropriate funding opportunities within multiple agencies and foundations that specifically support CIT and Tribal programs and services. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in submitting grants through a variety of online platforms. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with other departments to accomplish assigned tasks; ability to develop good working relationships with other departments in the organization.   Demonstrated ability to consistently convey a pleasant and helpful attitude by using excellent interpersonal and communication skills to control sometimes stressful and emotional situations. Demonstrated ability to work independently, shows initiative and takes ownership of all projects and assignments to achieve positive results. QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in business, English, Communications, Creative Writing or a related field. A combination of formal education, relevant certifications, training and related work experience may be considered. Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or management experience leading staff, volunteers, interns, or project teams. Experience in developing staff capacity through coaching, training, and performance management. Minimum four years’ experience writing federal, state, tribal, nonprofit and other grant applications. Professional certification as a Certified Grants Management Specialist (CGMS) or equivalent required or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment. Demonstrated knowledge of grant development, proposal submission, budgetary concepts, and fundraising processes. Demonstrated ability to study, learn, and understand a wide variety of programs and operations, and funding requirements of the organization. Proven track record of successful grant writing and grant project management. Proven team player with the ability to effectively collaborate with, lead, and manage individuals at all levels while maintaining a professional, friendly, and courteous approach. Must possess a current, valid driver’s license and maintain an insurable driving record as determined by the Tribe’s insurance carrier.
