About the Job

GFS Chemicals is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to join our Shared Services Division at our McKinley Avenue location. The Maintenance Technician I performs a variety of maintenance duties to reduce equipment down time, help with equipment installations, maintain building facilities, and grounds upkeep. The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for performing preventative maintenance tasks and assisting higher-level technicians. This role is ideal for individuals starting their careers in maintenance, offering hands-on training and exposure to a variety of systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance (e.g., lubricating machinery, replacing filters, changing light bulbs)
  • Assist in basic repairs of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems under direct supervision
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas, facilities, and company grounds
  • Document maintenance activities and report issues to supervisors
  • Follow safety protocols and company procedures


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate, Bachelor's Degree, or maintenance certification program, preferred
  • 1 to 2 years of maintenance experience or relevant training preferred
  • Core Skills: 
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to use hand tools and basic power tools
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
