Job DetailsJob Location: OH Columbus - Columbus, OH 43228Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: 2 Year DegreeTravel Percentage: Up to 50% Job Shift: FirstPosition Summary The Fabrication Maintenance Specialist is responsible for supporting the equipment and maintenance needs of fabrication operations within an assigned location and territory. This position works closely with Viking Engineering, Operations, and Fabrication leadership to maintain equipment reliability, minimize downtime, troubleshoot equipment issues, and support safe and efficient fabrication operations. The Fabrication Maintenance Specialist provides hands-on maintenance and technical support, assists with preventive and predictive maintenance programs, supports equipment installations, and serves as a technical resource for fabrication teams throughout the assigned territory. Major Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with Viking Engineering in the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of VFS preventive and predictive maintenance programs, schedules, and processes for fabrication equipment. Provide maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical support for fabrication equipment, including but not limited to: Automated and semi-automated welding equipment Robotic welding systems PLC-controlled equipment Threading and grooving machines Make-on and cutting equipment Saws and other metal fabrication machinery Diagnose equipment issues and perform troubleshooting and problem-solving activities in partnership with VFS locations, Engineering, Operations, and Fabrication teams. Develop and implement practical solutions to equipment issues to minimize downtime, improve equipment performance, and support production and delivery requirements. Prioritize maintenance projects and activities throughout the assigned territory based on operational needs and direction from leadership. Perform all fabrication equipment maintenance activities for the assigned location and provide support to other assigned facilities as needed. Partner with Viking Engineering and other Fabrication Maintenance Specialists/Technicians to maintain consistency and continuity in fabrication maintenance practices. Develop equipment-related training programs and provide training to Fabrication Managers or designated employees so they can effectively train operators on proper machine operation, inspection, and basic maintenance requirements. Assist with the installation, setup, and coordination of new or relocated fabrication equipment. Maintain an organized reference library of current operator manuals, maintenance documentation, technical specifications, and other appropriate equipment information. Maintain inventory and availability of parts assigned to the National Parts Depot. Fabricate components for Viking Fabrication-specific equipment and machinery as assigned. Assist with Welder/Welding Operator Qualification Tests as needed. Travel to assigned facilities as required to provide equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, and technical support. Function as an on-call troubleshooting resource for assigned locations when necessary. Follow applicable safety procedures and OSHA requirements while performing maintenance and equipment-related activities. Perform other duties as assigned. QualificationsPreferred Experience & Qualifications Five or more years of maintenance experience with progressively increasing responsibility, including hands-on troubleshooting, equipment repair, and preventive maintenance. Strong working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems. Experience troubleshooting and maintaining industrial or manufacturing equipment. Experience with welding and fabrication of steel components. Experience with automated or semi-automated welding equipment strongly preferred. Experience with robotics, PLC-controlled equipment, and/or PLC programming preferred. Ability to diagnose equipment problems, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions. Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and the ability to apply appropriate safety practices within the scope of maintenance responsibilities. Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to support multiple facilities and competing operational needs. Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively train and provide technical guidance to equipment operators, supervisors, and fabrication leadership. Proven ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with Engineering, Operations, Fabrication, and Maintenance teams. Proficiency with common business software, including Microsoft Office. Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the assigned territory and provide on-call troubleshooting support as operational needs require.
