In-office position located in Columbia, Missouri

Shelter maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in geographic location, education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands.  Please remember that this range is the starting base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position. 

What You Will Be Doing:

Responsible for engineering and maintenance of the data analytics platform. The Principal plays a critical role in ensuring the availability, performance, and security of our data & AI infrastructure.

This position requires expertise in Snowflake, AWS, DBTLabs, Astronomer, Reltio, modern data architecture, database management, integration and cloud technologies.

What We're Looking For:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience (10+ years) as a Data & AI Platform Architect or Data & AI Principal or similar role, with hands-on experience in Snowflake, data analytics, and business operations integration typically required.
• Strong understanding of Snowflake architecture and data sharing concepts.
• Knowledge of P&C Insurance business functions.
• Knowledge of dbtLabs, Astronomer, Github, Reltio, Qlik Replicate is preferred.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with database management systems (DBMS) and data warehousing.
• Expertise with cloud platforms, such as AWS or Azure, and experience in managing critical data infrastructure within a cloud environment.
• Knowledge of security best practices, including user access control, authentication, encryption, and data privacy regulations.
• Knowledge of capacity planning, scaling, and resource management in cloud native data platforms to optimize performance and cost-efficiency.
• Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve database-related issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, stakeholders, and vendors.
• Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to perform essential functions of the position, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
