Here’s a Glimpse of the Job

Texas A&M’s Psychology Department is seeking a Senior Research Associate to conduct independent research activities requiring advanced scientific knowledge and the consistent exercise of discretion and judgment. This position is responsible for designing, planning, coordinating, and evaluating research projects and experiments; applying advanced research techniques; analyzing and interpreting data; and maintaining detailed research records. The Senior Research Associate will also prepare and submit grant proposals, identify funding opportunities, manage research-related financial accounts, operate and maintain research equipment, contribute to scientific publications, and train students and laboratory or field personnel involved in research activities.

Opportunities to Contribute

  • Designs, plans, coordinates, implements, monitors, and evaluates research projects and experiments, including analyzing and summarizing results.

  • Applies standard and non-standard research techniques, maintains detailed research records, and utilizes laboratory, technical, and computer-based tools to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and evaluation of experimental results.

  • Recommends project guidelines, procedures, policies, rules, and regulations.

  • Establishes, installs, maintains, operates, and repairs research equipment.

  • Utilizes research findings in scientific publications and clientele-oriented reports.

  • Identifies funding opportunities, develops and submits grant proposals to funding agencies, and manages financial accounts associated with research projects.

  • Trains and supervises undergraduate and graduate students, as well as laboratory, technical, and field research staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Four years of related experience in a specialized and relevant field of research.

A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Working knowledge of office software and instructional programs.

  • Familiarity with appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment.

  • Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software.

  • Attention to detail.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.

Please note: This position is grant funded; future employment may be contingent upon future funding.

Schedule: May have to work at the weekend and/or after normal hours and may travel as required.
