Job DetailsLevel: ExperiencedJob Location: National Institutes of Health (NIH) - Main Campus/Bethesda - Bethesda, MD 20892Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: Bachelors DegreeSalary Range: $44.25 - $44.25 HourlyTravel Percentage: NoneJob Shift: DayJob Category: Public HealthPosition Objective: The Laboratory Technician will independently provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute of Mental Health within the National Institutes of Health.     Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare optical micro-windows for experimental use. 1 Perform procedures to produce in vivo genetic transfection. Provide assistance with laboratory operations to ensure continuity of experiments and data analyses. Oversees animal colony and maintenance, including breeding. Update and maintain laboratory notebooks and databases. 3 Collect, analyze and interpret data; prepare summaries and reports based on results and findings. 2 Monitor, track and order supplies and reagents for laboratories. Manages biological sample inventory, including frozen samples. Inventory and procure new equipment and computer hardware/software programs and licenses. Support laboratory acquisitions and maintenance contracts. Work with staff to maintain laboratory spaces, including organization of work. Trains current staff to perform advanced biological laboratory techniques. Work with PI to monitor and ensure that appropriate laboratory safety courses and certifications for staff are up to date. Work with PI to prepare experimental protocol registrations and submissions. Work products and documents related to supplies and reagents for laboratories; inventory and procure new equipment and computer hardware/software programs and licenses; manage laboratory acquisitions and maintenance contracts.   QualificationsBasic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field. 2 years of experience.
