Job DetailsLevel: ExperiencedJob Location: National Institutes of Health (NIH) - Main Campus/Bethesda - Bethesda, MD 20892Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: Masters DegreeSalary Range: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 Salary/yearTravel Percentage: NoneJob Shift: DayJob Category: Public HealthPosition Objective: The Biological Scientist will provide support to the National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases (NIAID) within the National Institutes of Health.     Duties and Responsibilities: Develop and maintain liaisons and effective working relations with groups and individuals, agencies, and the public to encourage cooperative management strategies or to develop information and interpret findings 5 Monitor and observe experiments, recording production and test data for evaluation by research personnel 4 Operate, calibrate, or maintain equipment used in quantitative or qualitative analysis, such as spectrophotometers, calorimeters, flame photometers, or computer-controlled analyzers 3 Maintain laboratory equipment 2 Program and use computers to store, process, and analyze data 1 Work products and documents related to the self-cleaning and decontaminating floors in BSL2 and BSL3 labs Work products and documents related to the operating government vehicle in transporting goods to and from NIH. Work products and documents related to processing dirty laboratory items according to standard procedures. Work products and documents related to refilling liquid nitrogen tanks from bulk storage and the regular replacement of empty tanks Work products and documents related to the decontaminating biohazardous trash according to established procedures Work products and documents providing laboratory expertise needed to order, maintain and sterilize commonly used laboratory supplies, collecting and preparing samples for use, and performing basic techniques and procedures. Work products and documents related to operating commonly used equipment, inspecting for proper operation and performs minor maintenance, updating staff on any equipment problems or damages, and preparing instruments, linens and other necessary lab equipment for use. Work products and documents relating to collecting receiving/packing slips and tracking supply orders; maintaining cleanliness of laboratories; coordinating with facility managers on daily activities; updating staff of any issues/requirements.
