Duties and Responsibilities: Perform laboratory studies in molecular and cellular biology. 1 Perform a wide variety of procedures and techniques which include buffer preparation, SDS-PAGE, western blot, recombinant DNA technologies, immunofluorescence and cell culture. 2 Perform studies with infectious flaviviruses (dengue and West Nile viruses). 3 Perform routine virus culture and purification protocols, antibody neutralization experiments. Perform analysis of cell populations by flow cytometry. Record the details of all experiments, results, and analysis in a bound notebook. Maintain laboratory upkeep and routine maintenance of equipment. Order and maintain laboratory supplies and equipment including chemicals, biological materials. Handle biological materials, carcinogens, recombinant protein materials, acids, biological waste. Analyze, evaluate, and discuss the results of each experiment with the leadership as part of the planning process for subsequent studies. Assist in the analysis and interpretation of data and prepare summaries of laboratory findings and routinely present these findings in lab meetings. Participate in the preparation of manuscripts, abstracts, and/or posters. Work products and documents related to performing laboratory studies in molecular and cellular biology. Work products and documents related to performing a wide variety of procedures and techniques. Work products and documents related to recording details of all experiments, results, and analysis in a bound notebook. Work products and documents related to maintaining laboratory upkeep, maintaining supplies and equipment. Work products and documents related to participating in the preparation of manuscripts, abstracts, and/or posters. QualificationsBasic Qualifications: Ph.D. degree in a scientific field. 3 years of specialized experience plus a Master’s degree is equivalent to a Ph.D. 5 years of specialized experience plus a Bachelor’s degree is equivalent to a Ph.D. Experience with scientific computer software, Microsoft office, related data presentation methodology, and written communication.
