Atlas Roofing Shingle and Underlayments is seeking a Forklift Driver / Fork Truck Operator for Clinton, IA.

We are currently accepting applications and interviewing candidates for positions expected to begin in October and November 2026. 

Forklift Driver / Fork Truck Operator Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform all job duties safely, maintaining a safe work environment, and ensuring compliance with all plant safety policies and procedures, including all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial trucks in accordance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and established safety procedures.
  • Load, unload, transport, stage, and store finished goods, raw materials, packaging materials, and supplies.
  • Supply production lines with materials and move finished products to designated storage or shipping areas.
  • Accurately pick, stage, and prepare customer orders according to shipping schedules, pick lists, and load plans.
  • Verify product identification, quantities, lot numbers, and load accuracy before shipment or storage.
  • Load trailers safely while maximizing trailer space and preventing product damage.
  • Organize and maintain warehouse and yard storage areas using proper stacking and inventory rotation practices.
  • Perform pre-shift and post-shift forklift inspections and promptly report mechanical issues or safety concerns.
  • Assist with inventory transactions, cycle counts, inventory verification, and material tracking.
  • Complete required paperwork and electronic transactions accurately and on time.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
  • Communicate effectively with truck drivers, warehouse personnel, production employees, supervisors, and other members of the team to coordinate material movement and shipping activities.
  • Rework, repackage, relabel, or restack products as needed to meet quality, inventory, or shipping requirements.
  • Assist in receiving, shipping, warehouse, inventory, and production support activities as business needs require.
  • Participate in safety meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Follow all plant safety policies and PPE requirements.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Forklift Driver / Fork Truck Operator Schedule:

  • 24/7 manufacturing facility
  • 12-hour straight shifts (7:00am – 7:00pm or 7:00pm – 7:00am)
  • 2-2-3 work schedule (36 hours one week / 48 hours the next)
  • Must be willing to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed to support production and business operations.

Forklift Driver / Fork Truck Operator Experience:

  • Previous forklift or powered industrial truck operating experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in a warehouse, shipping, manufacturing, industrial, or logistics environment preferred.

Forklift Driver / Fork Truck Operator Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Enjoy working as part of team.

  • Are eager to learn new skills and grow with the company.
  • Can safely operate forklifts and other powered industrial trucks or successfully complete required training and certification.
  • Can safely maneuver equipment in confined spaces while maintaining awareness of pedestrians, equipment, and surroundings.
  • Can read a tape measures and verify product dimensions when required.
  • Can perform basic mathematical calculations to verify quantities, weights, dimensions, and inventory counts.
  • Can work independently while also communicating effectively with team members and leadership.

Forklift Driver / Fork Truck Operator Education, Licenses & Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Forklift Driver / Fork Truck Operator Additional Information:

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this position, the Forklift Driver / Fork Truck Operator is regularly required to communicate verbally and hear effectively. The role frequently requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, climbing on and off equipment and performing repetitive movements. Frequently using hands and fingers to operate equipment controls and handle materials. The employee must possess adequate vision, depth perception, and spatial awareness to safely operate powered industrial equipment. The employee must be able to work in varying temperature conditions, safely operate assigned machinery, and regularly push, pull and/or lift up to 75 pounds.
