Citizenship / Access Requirements: U.S. citizenship is required. Personnel must satisfy all VA suitability, background-investigation, PIV, privacy, information-security, and system-access requirements.
Security Requirements: No classified clearance is specified. Favorable VA screening, National Agency Check initiation, PIV eligibility, and applicable ADP-sensitive access requirements apply.
Type of Employment: Full-Time Contractor PositionÂ
Estimated Compensation: $39.22 per hour.
Paid Sick Leave: Up to 56 hours per year, accrued in accordance with Fidelity Partners policy and applicable requirements.
Working Hours: Work must be staffed within the Monday-through-Friday service window of 6:00 AM–6:00 PM local facility time. Individual schedules will be assigned based on operational needs; off-hours work requires prior approval.
Work Arrangement: Remote work is authorized through an approved VA VPN. Work is normally performed at the contractor facility or another approved location within a U.S. jurisdiction unless otherwise agreed.
Period of Performance: November 1, 2026 through October 31, 2028, including one option year, with a potential extension of services of up to six months.
Summary of Services
The Supervisory Inpatient/Outpatient MRT Coder will manage coding personnel and program performance for inpatient, outpatient, professional, and surgical coding services. The position oversees workflow, quality, productivity, staffing, training, compliance, reporting, and resolution of claims and audit issues.
Mandatory Qualifications
U.S. citizenship and fluency in spoken and written English.
Current acceptable AHIMA or AAPC credential, such as RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, COC, or CIC, maintained throughout performance.
At least two years of continuous professional coding experience in a comparable VA Level 1A healthcare environment or equivalent complex healthcare setting.
Proficiency with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, HCPCS, E/M coding, modifiers, and compliant provider queries as applicable to assigned work.
Proficiency with Oracle Health coding workflows; familiarity with Solventum CRS, VistA, CPRS, and VIRR is preferred or required for assigned duties.
Ability to meet VA productivity, timeliness, data-security, privacy, quality, and coding-accuracy requirements.
Must meet or exceed coder and lead qualifications and demonstrate supervisory experience managing coding personnel, performance, workflow, training, and compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise and administer inpatient, outpatient, professional, ambulatory-surgery, and lead coding personnel.
Establish, monitor, and report productivity, accuracy, timeliness, quality, and performance expectations.
Evaluate personnel and coordinate schedules, leave, training, coaching, and corrective or disciplinary actions.
Monitor coding work queues, claims, reports, audits, denials, rejections, and compliance issues.
Provide education and technical direction regarding coding regulations, VA procedures, and documentation requirements.
Coordinate with VA leadership regarding revenue-cycle, quality, staffing, and operational priorities.
Develop and implement corrective actions and process improvements when performance issues are identified.
Use Oracle Health, Solventum CRS, CPRS, VistA, VIRR, and other authorized VA systems as required.
Protect patient information and comply with HIPAA, the Privacy Act, VA security requirements, and applicable coding standards.
Required Candidate Submission Documents
Current resume documenting qualifying education, credentials, systems proficiency, and at least two years of relevant coding experience.
Copy of a current qualifying AHIMA or AAPC certification.
