Job Summary:

The Dermatology Practice Director (Practice Director) is the primary clinic, administrative, and people leader of Peraza Dermatology Group, working closely with the Physician Owners to ensure the practice operates effectively, provides an exceptional patient experience, and continues to grow. This is a hands-on leadership role focused heavily on people development, team culture, operational excellence, and accountability. The Practice Director is responsible for creating an environment where employees understand what is expected of them, feel supported in their work, and have opportunities to learn and grow. The Practice Director is responsible for ensuring that the practice runs efficiently and balances people and business needs. This role requires the Practice Director to be a thoughtful and approachable leader who is experienced with balancing the needs of the team, patients, and business while serving as a trusted partner to the Physician Owners and family. The Practice Director removes roadblocks for employees to do their job and do it well.

Reporting to this position are the Clinical Operations Group (Pathology, Histology, Providers, and Lead Medical Assistant), Business Operations Group (Front Desk Manager and Call Center), and Revenue Cycle Operations Group (Billing Manager). This position works alongside Human Resources and Information Technology.

Primary Duties:

  • Oversees the day-to-day administrative operations of the practice.
  • Serves as the Physician Owners' primary administrative and business partner.
  • Leads with the Physician Owners' vision into clear priorities and action plans.
  • Provides regular updates on staffing, operations, financial performance, and opportunities.
  • Ensures staffing, scheduling, patient flow, supplies, equipment, and office systems support efficient operations.
  • Maintains a high standard for patient service and professionalism.
  • Monitors patient feedback and identifies opportunities for improvement.
  • Builds and maintains a positive, respectful, and accountable practice culture.
  • Recruits, onboards, develops, and retains talented employees for all operations of the practice.
  • Provides regular coaching, feedback, performance management, and professional development opportunities, equally and fairly.
  • Establishes clear expectations and helps employees understand how their work contributes to the practice.
  • Identifies opportunities for cross-training, leadership development, and career growth plans.
  • Addresses employee concerns and performance issues fairly, consistently, and promptly.
  • Leads regular team meetings and encourages open communication and collaboration.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve workflows and the employee and patient experience.
  • Manages key vendor relationships and supports technology and system improvements.
  • Assists with maintaining appropriate policies, procedures, and compliance practices, including HIPAA and OSHA requirements.
  • Brings forward solutions and recommendations to support sound business decisions.
  • Helps protect the Physician Owners' time and ability to focus on clinical care and medical practice.
  • Assists with budgeting, financial planning, and monitoring practice performance, when necessary.
  • May review financials for improving key business measures.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, manage costs, and support sustainable growth.
  • Supports decisions related to staffing, compensation, services, equipment, and other investments.
  • Supports growth in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology services as appropriate.
  • Helps develop community relationships, referral opportunities, and other strategies that support the practice's long-term success.

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical and management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, infection control practices, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, office location (any of the 5 locations), and workflow demands is necessary.
  • Must exercise constant attention to safety practices as defined by the Safety Program's Bloodborne/Airborne Pathogen requirements.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive patient information.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, human resources, or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.

Experience:

  • Ten or more years of progressive leadership, management, healthcare administration, human resources, or business operations experience.
  • Five or more years working in a private medical practice is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
