CNC Machine Operator | Hamilton, OH | Second Shift | $28-$33/hr
Mural Group Industrial is partnering with a precision CNC shop in Hamilton, Ohio to place a Machine Operator on second shift. This is a direct hire opportunity at a growing aerospace machining operation that runs complex, tight-tolerance components on serious equipment.
Second shift is a hard requirement: 1pm to 10pm, Monday through Friday.
About the Role
You will work alongside a senior machinist to keep production moving on second shift. This is not a pure load-and-unload seat. You will monitor running jobs, catch issues before they become scrap, make basic adjustments, and use good judgment when something looks off. The shop runs Okuma LB-series lathes, Makino and Matsuura 5-axis mills, Mori Seiki NT mill-turn, and Brother mill centers -- complex equipment on demanding aerospace parts. If you want to develop toward machinist-level skills, this environment will get you there.
What You Will Do
Monitor CNC machines during production runs and respond appropriately when something looks off
Support the machinist on shift with job changeovers, tool changes, and in-process checks
Perform basic dimensional checks using calipers, micrometers, and hand measurement tools
Assist with loading, unloading, and part handling without disrupting machine cycles
Support automation cell operation and lights-out machining as needed
Maintain accurate production records and documentation in the shop ERP system
Keep your work area clean, organized, and safe
What You Need
1 to 4 years of CNC machine operation experience in a production environment
Ability to monitor a running job and recognize when something is wrong -- not just keep the machine fed
Reliability: this is a two-person second shift and call-outs affect production immediately
Comfort working second shift (1pm to 10pm) consistently long term
Local to the Hamilton-Cincinnati-Dayton area and able to work on-site full time
What Helps You Stand Out
Experience on Okuma, Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, Mitsubishi, or similar CNC controls
Familiarity with basic GD&T and precision measurement tools
Background in aerospace, defense, or precision contract machining
Any exposure to automation-assisted or lights-out machining cells
Willingness to grow toward setup and machinist capabilities over time
What to Expect
Fixed second shift schedule -- same hours every week, no rotation
Direct hire placement (not contract, not 1099)
$28 to $33/hr depending on your CNC background and experience level
A shop that is actively growing off a major aerospace production contract
Real opportunity to develop machinist-level skills working alongside senior machinists on complex equipment
